Why did this boring movie become a box office hit?

Emma's nudes?

reply

Because its a masterpiece and Disney LOVES money money money.

reply

It is not a masterpiece. It is kind of generic. You cannot beat the Beauty and the Beast (1991 film)

reply

True the original is brilliant too.

reply

Probably because more people (like me) love this movie rather than hate it (like you). Also, adults take kids to see movies and kids (my grandchildren) like the movie, too. With so many movies these days being R rated or PG-13 and SHOULD be R, it's nice to have a movie the whole family can see.

By the way, is there a point to complaining about a movie you don't like? Just curious.

reply

Because people are driven by nostalgia to watch a remake of a film they grew up with.

Successful marketing.

all i kept hearing was praise for the movie yet after watching it myself i find it was pretty bland alot of the magic of the cartoon was stripped from it

reply

Yeah, it was the nostalgia factor for a lot of people. I think once the hype for it dies down and people see it again, they will realize that the CGI for this was really bad and it just didn't have the same magic of the cartoon at all.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/AD4MjlFtI4k

Franchises are the new movie stars. Everyone liked the old one, so everyone saw the new one.

I knew this was going to do well at the box office but I was stunned to find out how much it actually made. Just goes to how low the bar is nowadays. To be fair it wasn't as bad as I was expecting (my expectations were extremely low!) but like many people have already said, it definitely did not have the charm of the animation. Now I'm really worried for The Lion King and Aladdin.

reply

People just like to see nostalgia come to life.

From a technical achievement, this movie is mostly well made. The performances are alright and the movie was just serviceable IMO. Of course, the original animated movie still hold up better by comparison.
