I'm an atheist and I don't like Christmas, but what's the harm. The performers are having fun, the audience is enjoying it. Why do some people feel the need to complain against something that has nothing to do with them.

give the money to the poor or homeless?

You could say that about so many things. I'm the first person to say that we need more homeless shelters built in the US, but people would rather spend money on technology and space travel. How much funding is wasted on technology to make things faster and smaller.

And we all bitched about the billionaires playing "mine's bigger" games with spaceships, why the hell shouldn't we bitch about churches using their tax-free status for this shit!

Tax the fucking churches.

I've never been in one of these Megachurches before but I'm sure it would be an experience to see such a show. This is America and if you don't like it no one is forcing you to go to this Christmas show. Leave it alone for the people who enjoy this.

just take away their tax exempt status

A megachurch in Dallas? Go figure :)

Who decides which parish does (and doesn't) qualify for the pejorative "megachurch"?

Why do we never hear about "mega-hospitals" or "mega-universities", even though their reach and influence far exceeds that of any single church/denomination?

I'm not sure if it's necessarily pejorative but that's an interesting question.

The Hartford Institute for Religion Research defines a megachurch as any Protestant Christian church having 2,000 or more people in average weekend attendance.

Now I'm wondering why they limit it to protestant churches. I would think any tax-exempt religious organization with the same amount of members would qualify.
