Best Buy will stop selling DVDs

I remember when they stopped selling CDs.

Not surprising, streaming has taken over.

Streaming platforms have increasingly become the go-to for many for viewing movies and TV in recent years. Some well-known entities include Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, Max, Peacock, Apple TV and Paramount+.

One of the main reasons I've started getting physical copies of everything I like, especially this past decade, is cause these streamers are not reliable.

Shows & movies are always "leaving". Sometimes they're editing them, removing certain episodes or even removing stuff for good for tax write-offs & shit.

A DVD is the perfect example of something which can be bought online .

Unlike clothes , or shoes , or couches , where people like to see it in person first.

Also Ive noticed best place to get a DVD is a charity shop , or goodwill or whatever you call em over there - they can barely give them away

they are 25p each here.

I WISH THE THRIFTS AROUND ME WERE A BIT MORE RESASONABLY PRICED...BUT ABSOLUTELY...THRIFT AND ONLINE ARE THE TOP TWO SPOTS FOR PHYSICAL MEDIA.

The problem with the online is you can't really just browse like you can in a store.

If I didn't see the movie Corner Office at Walmart, I might have never heard of it.

I agree with the thrift shops - them and garage sales are movie goldmines.

I've never heard of Corner Office.
But online , in places like here for example you may hear about films that are not in the walmart selection , then all you have to do is ask ebay for a copy .
Two sides of a coin , could go either way.

I like options from everywhere - I'm greedy that way.

Corner Office just came out recently, stars Jon Hamm and follows a guy who works in an office and may or may not be experiencing something that his co-workers are not.

ima hardcore quality guy.
after a bunch of comparison testing, and background knowledge of video, screens, data traffic, compression etc... I FINALLY stopped buying new discs because the quality of streaming is finally there.

VUDU has been 100% reliable - unless my internet goes out, which is rare. I can download HD movies for travel and on the go with just a little preplanning. Watch downloads on phone or bigger tablet on flights (most flights have streaming movies anyway).
PS if VUDU ever went away, most likely they would be bought out and kept going, and or they would have to provide permenant downloads for what their service is before going under. We can't lose. We can FRET about it, but the money involved I'm sure it would never happen.

I loved physical while it was the only option, but evolution happens and usually ends up better. I was looking up an old movie that was availalbe on 8MM projected film as a kid - those 8MM were like 20 min edited versions, yuck! - and that film is available to me now anywhere I feel like watching it.

These are great times. Change with them, and you will enjoy them even more.
