πŸŽ₯ StoneKeeper's Movie Guessing Game: I recommend THIS Movie #2281

I have a movie in mind and you have to guess which one it is. For each movie you guess, I will give a hint that connects your guess with the movie I have in mind.

For each guess, a connection is posted. Example of connections: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, actor, writer in common, rating, number of votes. It can even be something like: both movies involve Cabbage Patch Kids. Also, you can use Metascore color or rating, Rotten Tomatoes score, any award wins or nominations in common, same number of words in the title, plot keywords. Note: "Plot" in the IMDB advanced search links to "Plot Summary" on the film's page. "Keyword" in the advanced search links to "Plot Keyword" on the film's page.

Helpful search engine: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/ Click on Feature Film and TV Movie and Video. Then modify for the hints as they are posted.

- The winner can either start a new game or say "pass". In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another one.
- After 12 hints and 15 incorrect guesses the point goes to the OP and he/she gets to start another one.
- Movie must have at least 3500 IMDB votes. Otherwise, add a bonus hint. No documentaries.
- Maximum 2 guesses per player per hint.
- Can't edit a guess once posted. Delete ONLY
- Post one Hint at a time.

You have got to bring this down lower. We are at 500 movies. We need a genre.

reply

He’s trying to win as a host. It’s his right. I did it more than a few times myself.

The one hint I think is pretty much obligated is when you have an actor/director in common.

The other sensitive hint, I think, is the year. You are not obligated to reveal the year if someone guess the same year, BUT, it is politically correct to do so..

reply

Actually, I'm really not. Once the film is known you can go back and see why I had such a hard time with some of the films being offered up.

reply

I believe you. I was mistaken. I personally do like to throw a hard round here and there to try to get the win as host and believe it or not. I’ve never managed to do so. Not once.

reply

I really didn't think To Sir With Love would have been that obscure of a title. I didn't expect the round to last anywhere as long as it did.

reply

I haven’t seen it but it doesn’t look bad at all.

reply

Yeah, I'm realizing that I'm making a mistake for trying to bring this film up among the people who normally play this. Drama is the only genre given to the mystery film.

reply

You bring whatever movie you enjoyed and would like to recommend. There is absolutely no limitation. We saw the best and we saw the worst over here! Ha!

reply

Oh thats a good hint. You can put drama only genre. I'll keep looking.

Manhattan 1979

reply

Ok now that’s a WTF hint!! πŸ˜‚

reply

Ok. After so many complaints about it I'm just throwing this one out. It was To Sir, With Love (1967). Sorry.

reply

I think the rating might have helped, but movies with only 1 genre are always tough to host. Not enough clues.

reply

No one posted anything with the same rating, or in the same decade. I seriously did not try to make this one hard.

reply

I knew it was an early film before 1970, but I was having trouble even with that.

reply

Btw, if you change your mind and keep playing, an example of another hint could’ve been: released before 2000. You could even say β€œmovie is over 40 years old” Again, no limitation in hints creativity.

reply

Do you want to go again? No problem here.

reply

No. I think I'm done with this game. I really don't have enough movie taste in common with most of the people here.

reply

Its not taste in movies but clues. Almost all the players here hate my girl movies, but I'm good at clues. 1 or 2 words in the title, metascore color helps, number of votes is very helpful.
'

reply

The metascore also didn't match up and the only one with number of words that matched had what was, IMHO, a better hint. Again, I wasn't trying to win and we just are too far apart in this case.

reply

I think it comes down to 1 genre. I've not done movies with one genre, especially drama, because there is no way to bring the number down.

reply

Don't sweat it. One of the pleasures of this game is everyone bringing their own picks to the table. Sometimes as a host our hands are a little tied as to what films players will guess, so you do your best. I wasn't around to possibly help steer things, but feel free to go again if please.

reply

You shouldn’t have stop the round! I was getting closer I had found this link and was digging into it:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directors_Guild_of_America_Award_for_Outstanding_Directing_–_Feature_Film

And I don’t know why you feel like judging our taste as being β€œdifferent” than yours. I am 100% sure a lot of us would enjoy this movie just picked.

But okay, if you want to gracefully bow out, we won’t make a case out of it. This is just a fun movie game.

reply

Well, people were bitching. I'm done with it. If you want to really see that I wasn't "trying to win as a host" then I challenge you to find better clues given the last 5 or 6 guesses.

reply

I think you should have gone with less than so many imdb votes at some point, maybe 20k. I'm not complaining I like a tough game.

reply

Ok, if I manage to do that you don’t give up on us. Deal?

reply

No. I'm stepping back. Sorry.

reply

Then you are not worth my time. Sorry.

We have been nothing but nice with you. You look like a bit of a drama queen to me. Maybe not such a loss after all.

reply

You're right. Not much of a loss after all.

reply

Why don't you go. I just finished Bird Box 1, I liked it 7/10. I stopped Birdbox 2 bad casting nothing original here.

reply

Nobody likes Bird box 2 but meeeee 😭 😒

reply

I think the plot from 1 was good but really benefited from the Oscar casting...as evidence by Birdbox 2:)

reply

Im about to watch Bullet train

reply

You should watch the Wraith, this movie is right in your wheelhouse.

reply

It’s on our Club’s list and a big contender for Friday!

reply

I watched about 30 minutes and gave up...Its so guyish, cars, hot girls, cool weapons.

reply

Jesus, that was drastic.

reply

No big deal. These things happen....Someone has to go though???

reply

StoneKeeper hosted the previous round, so we can default to him if no one else.

I've had my fair share of frustrating rounds as host, but never to the point of self-deletion. I thought everyone was being pretty civil. It didn't even reach 12 hints!

reply

estsct deleted his account?

reply

This thread is dead! Lol

reply

If you want to start another round this evening, by all means.

reply

I hope it was an accident he was great at Boromirs.
