Your thoughts on Subway restaurants?

I stopped eating their subs awhile ago. I find it makes my stomach feel weird, and I feel bad & gross afterwards. Maybe it's because I'm in my 30s now, and my metabolism isn't what it used to be when I was younger?

Subway is garbage. There seems to be a formula that the greater amount of locations a restaurant has = lower quality food and service. Subway, with over 36,000 stores worldwide, is one proof of this.

I remember when Subway first appeared in my area. They had some of the best sandwiches in town. Then, as the chain grew bigger, the food and service began to take a downturn. The first step was when they dropped the "Sub Club" cards. They would give customers stamps with each purchase that could be affixed to a card... fill the card with these stamps and one could get a free sandwich:

They got big enough to where they could now rely on name recognition ("Oh, look... a Subway!") and stopped caring about offering a good product. The quality of their food eroded slowly and gradually. I guess they thought customers wouldn't notice.

My final Subway sandwich consisted of a dry bun crammed full of lettuce, leaving little room for the four paper-thin slices of processed lunchmeat, the kind that can be found at any supermarket. That was about a decade ago and I haven't been back since. I can only imagine how much farther they've deteriorated.

If you want a sandwich, find a family-run deli or restaurant, or a small regional chain. They are much more deserving of your patronage than these giant corporate pig-slop chains. Support your small businesses and local economy.

Love'em! I get a foot long turkey sub with lettuce, tomato, onions, black olives, black pepper and oil & vinegar on whole wheat, and toasted every week.

😎

PS On storm chasing trips, it's always the most popular place to get lunch.

Yes, Turkey is good too. I also liked Pizza sub.

Black Olives are gross though.

I haven't been since they stopped doing my favourite sandwich the Club. Another change was they started toasting / grilling everything. They used to push freshness baking bread daily then started toasting so it tastes stale.

I only eat there if I'm on a road trip with no other food choices for miles.

Go to Publix instead. Never let them offer you Boar's Head, always get the Publix cuts. They rule.

A loud and resounding MEH! While I don't find the sandwiches objectionable as such, I'll only eat there if I'm very hungry and there are no other options.

The only people I know who "like" it are tightwads who put price first and/or use low pricing as the sole consideration when choosing food.

An example of "the high cost of cheap".
