Chicago - Old Days
https://youtu.be/XoXsyMP8v3s

Trivia: Peter Cetera told James Pankow (trombone/arranger and writer of the song). "I'm not singing this shit, man! Howdy Doody?? Baseball cards? These are the corniest fucking lyrics ever!" (liner notes in "Group Portrait")

"Old days
Good times I remember
Fun days
Filled with simple pleasure
Drive-in movies
Comic books and blue jeans
Howdy Doody
Baseball cards and birthdays
Take me back
To the world gone away
Memories
Seem like yesterday
Oh, old days
Good times I remember
Gold days
Days I'll always treasure
Funny faces
Full of love and laughter
Funny places
Summer nights and streetcars
Take me back
To the world gone away
Our good memories
Seem like yesterday
Old days (on my mind and in my heart to stay)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (darkened dreams of good times gone away)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (days of love and feeling fancy free)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (days of magic still so close to me)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (on my mind and in my heart to stay)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (darkened dreams of good times gone away)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (days of love and feeling fancy free)
Ah, ah, ah
Old days (days of magic still so close to me)
Ah, ah, ah"

Weezer - Buddy Holly

While I like this song (&Weezer) I wouldn't call it a "nostalgic" song per se. Sure the video for it with the "Happy Days" theme is nostalgic, but the song lyrics themselves don't really convey a nostalgia for the past like other songs posted.

reply

But the song evokes iconic figures of the past to portray romance. That's nostalgic.

Ooh-wee-hoo, I look just like Buddy Holly
Oh-oh, and you're Mary Tyler Moore

reply

But that's really the only part of the lyrics that have anything to do with "nostalgia". The rest of the lyrics are basically about the couple being bullied for being "nerds" & are sung in the present tense, not nessecarily an entirely positive narrative reminiscence about the past, like "Night Moves".

reply

I dunno, if you talk about Buddy Holly in any sense, let alone name a song after him, that's nostalgia.

Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days
https://youtu.be/6vQpW9XRiyM

I had a friend was a big baseball player
Back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside, sat down, had a few drinks
But all he kept talking about was

Glory days, well they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Well, there's a girl that lives up the block
Back in school she could turn all the boy's heads
Sometimes on a Friday I'll stop by
And have a few drinks after she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband Bobby, well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times
She says when she feels like crying
She starts laughing thinking about

Glory days, well they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Think I'm going down to the well tonight
And I'm going to drink 'til I get my fill
And I hope when I get old
I don't sit around thinking about it
But I probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of
Well time slips away
And leaves you with nothing mister but
Boring stories of

Glory days, yeah they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory days

Yeah they'll pass you by
Glory days, in the wink of a young girls eye
Glory days, glory days

I saw Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band in Tampa on Wednesday night for the first show of their current tour.
Great show, and yes, they did play Glory Days.
