What did you watch this week baby love? (12/04-12/10) CLOSED

This how I call my 3 years old daughter. She’d be like; Daddy love? Then I’d be like; Yes baby love?

So cute.

But enough of that. Another week with the flu so another week with many movies:

Fast five (2011 TV): I am not even sure how many movies of this franchise I’ve seen before or if I’m even watching them in order and frankly, I don’t care. I don’t say that in a mean way, I do enjoy these flicks for what they are: over-the-top-testosterone-fuelled-expensive-cars-filled-and-fun-action-none-sense. There you go. My rating: 6.5/10

Management (2008 YouTube): Recommended to me via Stonekeeper’s guessing game by Fred, this was a fine film for a movie night with my loved one. I was enjoying it until they go for bumper cars. That scene took me so much it was cringe and corny. Otherwise, it was sweet and good spirited but the love story too redundant in pattern. An hour in, Woody Harelson shows up and brings a big wave of energy that was lacking so the final act was more entertaining. My rating: 5.5/10

The Power of the dog (2021 Netflix): I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Benedict Cumberbatch is one of the few actors I just can’t seem to ever enjoy watching, but the fucker keeps making winning movies. So I kind of have to manage my hatred for him, put it on the side and try to enjoy his films for what they are. This one was a uniquely-peculiar-boring-soporific-and-unpleasant-western-drama. I mean, what a pain to watch!!! I fucking hated it with a passion. Half of Cucumberbatch’ s dialogue was about Bronco Henry, so if you’re a fan of the man, I guess that would be cool for you. I didn’t care for it one bit. Even Dunts, not that she didn’t act good, her character was shit is all. Only thing that was mildly fun to watch was the pinano, the banjo, the mountains and the ranch. In other words, the lifeless objects. My rating: 3/10

Becky (2020 Tubi): Another recommended title via my guessing game, by tcrum this time. She loves that movie so I had to see it. I’ll just get the negative out of the way: when the girl says “I don’t have your stupid key” and the guy says “I never mentioned it was a key” that was cringe and stupid and when the dad takes the walkie-talkie and tells his daughter to run as far as possible, instead of telling her to give the stupid key, that was even more stupid. Bottom line is: he deserved to die and she deserved to watch. Ok maybe not that much but still… Now for the positive; first of all, this is one of my favourite kind of horror (revenge/kidnapping/home alone). Then, the main reasons we are here, the characters and the kills were top notch. The girl looks like she’s coming straight out of a comic book and I love it. The rest of the cast is good too. This is the kind of movie where they don’t shy away from the Gore, Oh no au contraire mon ami! Good News: there’s a sequel coming out next year: The wrath of Becky. My rating: 7.5/10

End of the road (2022 Netflix): Reviews are so harsh for this one and I disagree. My wife and I both enjoyed it. The acting might be average but the story was fun and thrilling enough. Plus I really liked the purple tones of the cinematography. My rating: 6.5/10

Welcome Home (2018 Tubi): “A couple spend a weekend at a vacation rental home in the Italian countryside in an attempt to repair their relationship, but soon become victims of the homeowner's sinister plans.“ first off, the lead actress sucks big time and I kept thinking to myself that Mischa Barton would’ve been perfect for the role. Aaron Paul was okay but the highlight was the bad guy. As for the story, it was alright for what it was, a low-budget-sexy-thriller. The ending was slightly disappointing. My rating: 6/10

Silent night (2012 Tubi): Has its nomment that make it well worth the watch. Those moments mainly consisting of the two cops having dialogues together and the axe slicing heads apart. Nice. My rating: 6.5/10

Your daughter doesn't speak French?

reply

Yes, but here in Quebec we are strong on Frenglish speaking.

But in truth, I say, Oui baby love?

reply

We had to learn French from grade 1-9 in Ontario.

reply

C’est bien ça! :)

All Dogs Go To Heaven (1989): One of the best Don Bluth movies. I really love the animation and the dark atmosphere. 8.5/10

Yours:

The Power of the dog (2021): I stop watch it after 20 min. As you I find Benedict Cumberbatch annoying 3/10

reply

I have to watch that one someday. Actually, I think I saw bits and parts of it through the years.

It makes me happy to see some people hating The power of the dog and it makes me happier to see you also dislike Eggbenedict Cucemberbatch.

Cheers
