Why do women use phones in cars?

What is so important? Pretty sure that are not all using maps.
For safety, I observe all vehicles positions a round me, followed by what the drivers attentions are on - when I am not busy navigating my own vehicle. I probably see a ratio of 300 to 1 of women on phones verses men.
I see women's eyes darting up and down at stop lights, while driving(and swerving in their lane), even while making left turns at dangerous intersections. My God. Really?
Why?
What is so important on your phone that can't wait 5 or 30 minutes?
Why not pull completely off the road?

Why do men use phones in cars?

GPS. And it talks to us, so we don't even look at it.
I used it twice today: Started it while stopped in a parking lot, immediately handed it to the passenger to manage. When alone, if needed, I toss it on the passenger seat and listen only.

Why are women staring at a phone when they should focus on the task at hand: Driving safely ?

I think you're being very general.

For one thing, I put my phone in a special holder and do not look at it most of the time when I'm driving. Second, the few times I do look at it when in the car, is when I'm either parked, or I'm using the GPS as you said. Often I borrow relatives' cars, so I can use the more advanced tech and let the car's computer tell me I'm getting a call, rather than look at my phone briefly and tap the answer button.

The few times I look at other women driving, they aren't looking at their phones at all. I don't even see people with phones glued to their ears anymore like we used to have in the early to mid-2000s.

Thank you for doing it right and prioritizing driving over phone fiddling. :) Much appreciated.

yes, being general, but still asking what is being done that can't seem to wait.
I see women "praying to the steering wheel" all the time. Easily 5 to 10 times on EVERY commute (if I'm looking), verses maybe a guy on a phone once a month.
I just can't fathom that what ever is being done could not wait.

it's provable, quantifiable fact in my area. I've been to many other "areas" and seen it there too, but others say it is more equal everywhere else. which seems weird to me.

I think you've answered the question yourself. These women see a creepy guy looking at them, so they are pretending to look at their phone. Case closed.

hahaha I love it

They're hoping a cute cop stops them??

For GPS purposes.

Perfect! As long as you are not staring at it - using audio only - while driving, or while stopped at an intersection.
