Has Anyone Seen A Chinese Movie Older Than 40 Years?

I have not, but would like to. I know they didn't have much of an industry, but I'm sure someone here has seen a few great ones.

I love checking out movies from other countries to see what's important to the directors/producers/etc., but also how they evolve over the years, and I love to start at the beginning of "talkies" (1930s - non-silent movies) and work my way to the present day. When I see a great movie, I'll look up the director and attempt to see all their movies starting from the beginning.

Nope.

I vaguely recall my dad playing a lot of Chinese martial arts films while I was growing up, so probably late 70s to early 80s stuff. I don't think I even understood them, but the terrible English dubbing often made me laugh.

They not only never sync together, but it sounds like the man dubbing the dialogue is the most non-Asian guy ever!

reply

Exactly! Haha the amount of times the characters would go on moving their lips while the English-est English speaker stopped talking was a riot.
