I think this .gif from "Safety Last!" is interesting.

The original King Kong was all stop-action puppets, which were beautifully done. They took the time to do it right, for every single monster!

The 1977 King Kong was a guy in a gorilla suit, which looked much less convincing than the stop-action model. Same for the CGI in Peter Jackson's "King Kong" (2005).

How are the effects in "Godzilla vs. King Kong"? I haven't seen that one yet!

The effects in the new one are good and bad. I always prefer practical effects more.

More good or more bad?

As for the kind of effects, I don't have a preference. Whatever works, I say!

reply

More good. Usually I'm harsh on CGI effects, but it didn't bother me enough to really criticize it.

Never thought I'd see an *NSYNC v
reference in a video about 2001.
