"Scooby Doo" co-creator Ken Spears 1938-2020

It was just announced yesterday (November 9th) that Ken Spears, co-creator of Scooby Doo, had died on November 6th. He was 82.

Interestingly, the show's other co-creator, Joe Ruby, had just died less than three months ago on August 26th.

One of my favorite shows back in the day.

Do we have another "Alien cast situation" coming up?

reply

Are you referring to the Alien movie franchise? I'm not familiar with the cast situation.

reply

They all died in order of their character's deaths until one of them broke the curse. But seeing as these were behind the camera it's kind of a shit reference and far from my best work.

reply

I never knew that. Fascinating. Thanks for the info.

Poltergeist

I have lots of happy childhood memories of that show and 35 years later my own kids loved it too

Thanks for the memories Mr. Spears👍

Best Saturday morning cartoon ever!

reply

Seconded!
The Smurfs was good too

Loved it, especially the older episodes. Even as a kid I noticed during the music section when they would be running around people would pass the same door 50 times.

Shittiest animation ever LOL😃
And that percussion sound when they all started running...it really sticks in my head!

reply

Yep! And the Shaggy walk. Lol

reply

Didn't it sort of look like a modified version of Walk Like An Egyptian.

I must have been thinking about when he would sneak around with one arm bent and pointing ahead of him and the other arm bent and sticking out behind him.
