I was expecting a lot of children’s movies, but the list has veered off in unexpected directions.

I can’t remember, who gets turned into what animal?

reply

Beorn is a shapeshifter, he can turn into a bear.

reply

Was that in the movie? I thought it was only in the book. I saw the movie long ago.

reply

The first time we see him, he's in bear form. He chases the dwarves, Bilbo and Gandalf into his house

reply

My memories of it are vague. Did you like this movie?

reply

It was ok I guess. I've only watched the trilogy once. Probably need to give it another run through

reply

I liked LOTR a lot but have heard negative comments about the Hobbit. Not many people I know liked it.

As someone who first read The Lord of the Rings when I was fourteen, who was a big fan of the book and the movies (I own the Extended Editions on Blu-ray), I must admit that I was disappointed in The Hobbit films.
So much so that I never even bothered to buy the Blu-rays.
They just seemed too bloated to me.
That's the direct opposite of my feelings towards The Lord of the Rings films.
I actually felt that the final film was too short because 'The Scouring of The Shire' was left out.
Other than that, I felt that The Lord of the Rings films were brilliant.

reply

The LOTR really was brilliant and I agree, the scouring of The Shire was greatly missed

I recently rewatched The Hobbit trilogy and while it was terribly bloated and should have been a two-parter I enjoyed it more this time around

reply

That’s the thing - I love all the books. I don’t want a bad movie to affect my liking the books.
