1980's

You're happy when I'm on my knees

reply

Looking at this again, almost a month later...could this be "State Of Shock" by Michael Jackson and Mick Jagger?

reply

You’re thinking “she put me on my knees…please baby please”…..that is a cool song

Interesting backstory about that Victory Tour; the last tour Micheal did with his brothers; Don King was the promoter (and then wasn’t); and because of financial problems related to the tours’ bloated budget, it set off a chain of events that may have indirectly started the New England Patriots dynasty.

Yes, you are right! I didn't think it sounded quite right, but it was close and all I could think of. It's funny...I've probably heard "Should I Stay Or Should I Go" 20,000 times in my lifetime and I still didn't know this! 😃

I didn't know that about Don King. I believe Mick Jagger and MJ performed this song at LiveAid, if I remember correctly...I'm thinking that Tina Turner may have joined them also? It's one of those great forgotten songs of the 1980s.

I had to google this:

"The tour was also a financial disaster for promoter Chuck Sullivan, who along with his father Billy was eventually forced to sell the New England Patriots football team they owned, along with Foxboro Stadium, the team's home field, as a result of the losses he incurred."

Wow!

Should I stay or should I go, the clash

Nice to have you back!

No lie, I was just thinking about you yesterday - I was in a Trader Joe's grocery story and they were playing The B-52s "Give Me Back My Man," which might be the only song I posted that you didn't know... and I don't think I heard it played anywhere else before except on AOR/alternative/newwave radio stations...

reply

Ah, you’re too kind, man….I know some, but not all….you got some stumpers out there.

But based on your some of your selections I know you had to be listening to Richard Blade and Bingenheimer back in the day spinning albums (then discs)….Kevin & Bean, are they still a thing? Is terrestrial radio still a thing, lol….it’s too bad, that was a good station ….

Cheers….

Richard Blade, Rodney, Freddie Snakeskin, Jed The Fish, The Poorman, Swedish Eagle, Raymond Bannister...

I'd bet a thousand dollars I hadn't heard "Give Me Back My Man" on the "radio" in over 30 years... they had an album in 1992, but everyone was into grunge, and I can't name a song they made since...

1970's

Don't you know
I can't dance I don't dig it
I can't see it at all
You say I'm just a specimen
And baby I can crawl
My physique just don't look
The way the physiques really should
But then again I've got an engine
Underneath my hood
When I'm cutting up the road
With a sports car on my tail
Frankenstein's inside my mind
And the wind's inside my sails

Late 80s...love the guitar playing in this song (such a great chord progression):

"Several years ago, I said goodbye to my own sanity...."

No one got this one...a one-hit wonder, but this song is a masterpiece:

I Don't Mind At All" - "Bourgeois Tagg

A very underappreciated band from the 1990s...love their hits from then: "Hey Jealousy" by the Gin Blossoms.
