I really don't know who sings this, but radio station I listened to when I was a kid used to play this every Friday at 4 pm.
I believe that's none other than Todd Rundgren, who had a few hits back in the 70s ("I Saw The Light," "Hello, It's Me"...what a great song that is, et.al.). I think the title is "Bang The Drum"
PS: "Hello, It's Me" is probably my favorite song of his, but he also came out with a song in the early 90s (if I remember correctly) called "The Want Of A Nail" that I loved.
