Movies you will never watch.

We all have a movie that we will never watch for any reason. Mine is "Southside with You" (2016)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4258698/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0

I don't know how anyone could think that a movie about Barack and Michelle Obama's first date would be something people would be interested in. I wouldn't even watch it for free.

any movie with too much gore
i used to be really curious when i was 18 but for some reason i became too sensitive in the past few years

reply

So pretty much any horror movie after 2004.

reply

nah too much gore means TOO MUCH F*KIN GORE
not your typical gory movie

reply

Any obvious Oscar bait (Sully, Lincoln, Shakespeare in Love, La La Land, Boyhood, etc). I hate Oscar bait movies.

I especially refuse to watch Boyhood. What a pretentious idea for a movie. And I resent this idea of someone from a specific socioeconomic demographic shooting a movie that supposedly captures a universal experience. This is a very arrogant, privileged thing to do, to think that your experiences represents those of everyone else's.

reply

Boyhood is more of a gimmick movie. There's not much story, just focus on him aging.

The King and I (1956)

reply

Why that one?

reply

My favorite movie is The Searchers (1956) which wasn't even nominated for Best Film and John Wayne wasn't nominated for Best Actor. Yul Brynner won Best Actor in The King and I - a friggin musical. Best Picture went to Around the World in 80 Days - another movie I won't watch.

reply

So in other words, you're doing it to honour The Searchers.

Around the World on 80 Days sucks.

reply

yes

reply

Thanks. I was losing sleep over this one.

reply

😊😊

The Accused . I saw 30 min? left.

You made the right call. It's nowhere as good as anyone says it is. After the initial rape scene, it turns into an embarrassingly cheesy, hamfisted TV movie-of-the-week movie that states the obvious (rapists are bad and should be punished). Like, seriously--who in the 1980s was still thinking it was acceptable for a woman to get brutally raped and for the rapists to go free?

reply

That movie was about getting punishment for the ones who encouraged it and cheered it on. That was the main focus of it.

reply

I understand that. Again, it's stating the obvious.

For example, imagine a movie where it was rape and not murder. It would be stating the obvious if a movie was about going after the people who encouraged a gang of people to brutally beat someone to death. It goes without saying.

reply

Not really. Times were waaaay different then than now. You're looking at it from today's standards.

reply

You have no idea what you're talking about. I was alive and well when this movie came out (1988). Why do so many kids keep thinking that no one who is alive today was alive 20, 30, 40 years ago and therefore can't provide insight into what the past was like?

reply

I guess I missed the part where I said you weren't alive back then. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

You're original comment focused on letting the rapists go free. You mentioned nothing about the real focus of the movie which was trying to get punishment for the ones who clapped and cheered. This was a real case from 1982. And again, times and standards were much different back then. Hence why they had to fight so hard to try to get justice. That's why it doesn't go without saying.

And since you decided to add to your original comment of "You have no idea what you're talking about. I was alive and well when this movie came out (1988)"
then allow me to add that sometimes old age can warp ones memories and perception of things that happened in the past. 😊😊😊😊

Editing again to add.... Oh and thanks for thinking I'm so young. I'm a child of the 70s so it's a compliment LOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

reply

I love Greg Kinnear, but I will never watch "Heaven Is for Real" (2014).

reply

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Love Tom Hanks, but...

reply

Probably the transformers series

reply

Only the first one is truly worth watching.

reply

Abrams' Star Trek movies

reply

The first one was just okay. The rest weren't good at all.
