2010 was a horrible real estate market here in The States so I agree, 2010 was a pig faced brat

Employment and the markets have improved very notably over the last decade, the ship has been righted by the last two administrations so we should be just fine going forward...until the next debacle anyway

I went through a lot of rough times in 2010 and I sometimes wonder how was I able to get through these moments, it did help me become a stronger person in the end, in early 2016 I moved to a much bigger town and am a lot happier living here than I was living in the previous town, I'm also liking my current job more than my previous job as well.

Most of the highlights of the 2010's came from the past few years than the early part of the decade.

Thanks, I'm also happy with where I'm at and the accomplishments I've made in the recent years, I also feel like I'm better off financially wise today than I was before I moved.

Personally, I consider 2013 the worst, since I was making very little progress in my life. The best was either 2010 or 2019.
Globally, 2016 was the year when it seemed that humankind went totally crazy (US elections and european terrorist attacks, etc.). The best was definitely before that. 2014 maybe? I have mostly upbeat memories from that time.

2013 wasn't exactly one of the best years of my life either because there was one employee who I worked with that year had a very short temper and it was a chore having to put up with him, he would lash out his temper at almost everyone who does something he doesn't like, when I found out about him quitting in the beginning of 2014 I was like "YAAAYYY!!!" I even had nightmares of him coming back to our job not once but twice, in those nightmares I'd be in the breakroom and there he is yakking it up with the other employees who he likes and I'd be like "here we go again"

The first half of 2013 was an okay year but the second half of the year sucked.

Best year 2014 - my daughter was born after 8 rounds of IVF.

Worst year 2017 - house fire meant we were displaced for a year, but hey, no-one died, so not really so bad after all, right?

Without a doubt, 2011 was the worst year of my life - my first wife of over 20 years died suddenly from diabetic ketoacidosis, on my birthday. I had been chronically sleep-deprived for almost 9 years when she passed and I absolutely fell to pieces; it didn't break my heart, it shattered it. It was almost 4 years before I felt myself coming back to life.

I'm grateful to say 2019 has been a very good year for me. A few years ago, my doctor prescribed a medication to help with the sleep deprivation and I take that with a few OTCs, a combination that has helped me get very good sleep almost every night. I changed churches in 2016 and met my current wife, Sandy. We just celebrated our 2 year anniversary. I work out every morning, 6 days a week. I've been working part-time from home for over 2 years for a great boss, who lets me pick my own hours. I have a lot to be grateful for.

I'm sorry to hear about your first wife of over 20 years dying on your birthday and that you were sleep deprived for almost 9 years, I can imagine it being a very hard, difficult experience for you, I'm sorry it took you almost 4 years before you felt yourself coming back to life.

I'm glad to hear 2019 has been a very good year for me and that you got to celebrate your 2 year anniversary with your current wife, that is great you have a great boss who lets you pick your own hours, I have a lot to be grateful for myself.

2019 has been a good year for me although February/early March was a rough period for me such as putting my cat to sleep on the 1st of February and dealing with a heavy snowstorm (we had a record snowfall for the months of February and March this winter) affected my mood and energy, when the snow started melting things were looking up for me.

Best - 2014 - my son graduating university
Worst - 2015 - my mother in law dying. i am glad she saw him graduate. they were very close.

2019 = worst year ever.
2 heart attacks
2 surgeries
A broken arm
2 deaths, (not inner circle, but next level)
Lost my job
Lost my bestie
And a fire just last week.
I'm exhausted.
