I'd argue the tv series kicked LW's legacy straight into the crapper.

Never bothered with the series you are most likely right. I was thinking more just the movies which were being pushed into JTS territory anyway.

Now I hope new X-Men, Die Hard, Alien, Predator, Mortal Kombat, Robocop movies won't disappoint. I really love those franchises

It could be argued that the Cruise films did destroy the legacy of the original franchise.
