Movies about the Korean War

Not only is the Korean War the forgotten war in general but in film as well. I’ve seen a couple that I enjoyed like Pork Chop Hill (1959) and Tae Guk Gi (2004) but not many others. I have read many books on this conflict and have always wondered why more films are not made about it.

Does anyone have any recommendations regardless of language?

I was watching “The Steel Helmet” on TCM about a year ago and thinking that except for MASH I couldn’t think of another Korean War film.

You would think film makers would love this conflict. There are many things like it was the dawn of true jet combat in a major war and the first major war of the Cold War. There are even accounts of Soviet pilots flying Migs in dog fights against the US. For the US it was the first time blacks and whites fought together in the same platoons. MacArthur’s Inchon landing was brilliant and the Chinese human wave attacks at Chosen are both battles That it would seem like Hollywood would eat up.

The Hunters (1958) pretty good film a little more drama on the ground than in the air though.
Battle Hymn (1957) based on true story
Retreat, Hell (1952)
Fixed Bayonets (1951)
One minute to zero (1951)
Battle Circus (1953) this is about a MASH hospital and is more authentic than the MASH film or TV series.
