"Fear Love This Place" - Julian Cope:

Terrific song, by The Teardrop Explodes' most famous frontman, Julian Cope, off his great 1992 album "Jehovahkill", which I own. "We're living one hell of a heaven"

reply

This is really excellent, never heard of the band.

Well, The Teardrop Explodes were a really popular early 80s band fronted by Julian Cope. They're mostly known for albums like "Kilimanjaro" and songs like "Treason", "The Thief of Baghdad", "Sleeping Gas" and all.

That song was when Mr Cope later went solo.

Here's "Treason" by The Teardrop Explodes itself -

And it really is awesome, "Kilimanjaro" is one of the best albums ever in my opinion and also the band's best work. I posted some of their other songs here too. :)

I like that, it’s got drive and rawness, could fit into a good thriller movie soundtrack.

Gong - "You Never Blow Your Trip Forever"

reply

I didn’t love that tbh, but the instrumentals could work in a crime movie as background music.

reply

It is a pretty goofy tune that I've always enjoyed.

reply

I can see it, not bad.

She's one of my favorites in my YouTube Playlist.

Her rendition brought tears to my eyes.

Some songs I really don't want to hear the originals, I've heard them too many times, but I love to hear people's cover versions with a different sound or twist.

Another superb pop/rock classic hit from The Teardrop Explodes lead front singer Julian Cope gone solo. This time its from the 80s, 1987. :)

Highway Robbery - "Promotion Man" (1972)

This is the kind of song that i love only in a very specific situation, a country western steak house. I'm having Prime Rib, baked potato and a glass of red wine.

much better than the original version by the rolling stones

reply

Of course, you know I am not a Stones fan at all.

Here's a song you posted thats still in my top 10 favorite covers of all time.

I love that song so much, but its hard for me to listen to it. Its kind our song for my ex and me. I know all the words. I have it on my player in my car, and listen to it when I feel like I can.

"The Culture Bunker" by The Teardrop Explodes -

Honestly, STILL one of the most amazing songs ever in my opinion, 10/10, and one of the band's top 5 best. And yes that's Julian Cope singing, before he went solo, and he is definitely a talented artist. Off their sophomore 1981 album release "Wilder".

Also, in today's never ending world of CULTURES - its as relevant as it was 42 years ago if not MORE so, lol. :)
