Notre Dame (France)

Damn ! I just heard Notre Dame in Paris is on fire. I'll never visit France but this building was erected in the 12th and 13th century. I sure hope some Yellow Shirts didn't do this.

I remember that from the 80s ! I don't think it belongs here - unless you are an anarchist - but props to you for bringing it up.

I've now seen some photos of the damage. It's horrific, but I must say I'm amazed at how much has survived. I'm also gladdened to see how much money has been donated already to rebuild - over $700 million at this time.

To the Catholic Church ?? I want to gag at this. They have more money than the Pope !!

reply

The building belongs to the state, not the Catholic Church.

reply

It will take five years to rebuild, but France wants it rebuilt. I thought it might be arson, but it wasn't. Instead it had something to do with welding. Welding any wood that is 800 years old proved dangerous indeed.

reply

The estimates have been anywhere from five to fifteen years as far as rebuilding.

If you ever arrive at a point of understanding that welding is not done on wood, maybe then you can trump millions of believers that have come before you and claim definitively that, "God does not exist."

reply

No need to be crass. I thought I read that this was the cause of the fire. Guess I was wrong.

reply

Actually, crass applies more accurately to you, in addition to your extreme arrogance.

reply

You are definitely a troll.

reply

There you go again with that know-it-all arrogance I just mentioned. You just confirmed my previous opinions.

reply

I haven't seen any mention of this, but where will the regular worshipers of Notre Dame cathedral go now and for the next few years?

reply

You have brought up a very deep and troubling question. Perhaps we should consult Anne Frank.
