I'm a huge fan of Let the Right one In from Sweden. It's such a beautiful Vampire story, visceral yet uplifting and heartbreaking.

I tried watching Trolhunter and was enjoying it but I found the motion sickness overwhelming. Such a shame.

Edit- Dead Snow, what's not to love about Nazi Zombies? It's great!

reply

Unfortunately, many people get motion sickness from "found footage" movies. Ya, I added Dead Snow and a few others. Decided to add movies to this thread as well.

reply

Interesting list... Are these all TV shows, or are any movies?

reply

I just updated and added TV Show or Movie next to the title.

reply

Thanks! I remmeber seeinf Kon Tiki... I really liked it

reply

Never really understood the praise for all those new Scandinavian tv shows and movies. They really don't work for me.

reply

Have you seen any on that list?

reply

A couple. And several others that aren't on the list.

reply

I recommend the Finnish movie Unknown Soldier that was released last year. It's one of the best war movies I've seen. I saw it twice at the cinema.

reply

Will definitely check it out since war movies are on of my favorite genres.

reply

I really liked Kon Tiki and Land of Mine.

reply

Both excellent. The book Kon Tiki is worth reading too. They took lots of pictures during their journey.

Naboer - Norwegian
Department Q - Danish
Headhunters - Norwegian
Sauna - Finnish

reply

Sauna sounds interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a Finnish movie.

reply

Sauna might be frame to frame the most pensive horror film i have ever seen. Think about it as if Tarkovsky made horror.

reply

Headhunters is on my watchlist...

reply

I can't highly praise that movie enough. If you like thrillers you can't possibly go wrong with it.

reply

I just noticed Askel Hennie is in it. Same guy from Nobel. He's also in the new Cloverfield movie, "God Particle".

reply

Department Q was very good
