Jacob's Ladder. Many people mistake it for a horror movie, but it isn't. It's an existential movie disguised as a horror.

King Kong. Laugh if you must. It's the greatest movie ever made because it's about a monster, an awful and at the same time wonderful sight, which is also Hollywood, brought to civilization, only to wreak havoc in the streets by those who brought him here.

Sound familiar? But that monster is also the moviegoing public, the ones who made it so big and strong and destructive. For me the film is a perfect visualization of Hollywood and what it has done to us all.

I can't think of another film that packs to much meaning into its running time; and which is also grand entertainment in the bargain, and with a story that moves light lightning. King Kong is a movie I never tire of.
