SO AWESOME! Johnny Depp Was Actually at Disneyland, CA

Even just watching the facebook videos, gives me the chills. I kind of lost interest in the Pirate of the Caribbean series, after the first movie; however, I still think that is pretty cool. The ride is not bad either.

That's amazing! I just watched some of the videos, too.
It must have been fun to wander around the ride and scare the tourists. 😂

How long do you think he was in there for? An hour? Three hours? 🤔

EDIT: I love the one where he's like, "Here's the deal. I want to get out of here. So I'm going to commandeer your ship. All of you just hop out and I'll get in. Savvy? .... What are all your names?"

Also, I can just imagine the line growing exponentially as people coming off shout "Johnny Depp was in there! He said my name!!!"

It's truly amazing Leia. I know when I first looked at the article, I was like "Ah...Johnny Depp...whatever." After looking at some of these videos, I was like "Wow, I feel like I am right there" and tears began to fill my eyes. I am a very emotional male, so I will show emotion when necessary. Seriously though, I could not imagine being there and then having to say "Good bye". I would have to shake his hand, something. I do a lot of background work and movies/shows are always a part of me. I had shaken hands and had been given an autograph by Arnold Schwarzenegger as well and actually now, when I think back to it, I feel like I could have said more. It is horrible that you cannot actually interact with him as much as you like because the ride only allows you to float away.

He was definitely playing on people's emotions that day!

Yeah. I saw that on Yahoo.

He needs money.

It is actually hilarious that you say that because that is what someone else said, in the comments of that article. I have not looked up his movie history on IMDb yet, to see if he has any upcoming movies. I would bet that he probably needs this side hobby for something.

The new Pirates film is coming out soon. That'll be a nice big paycheck if he hasn't already gotten it.

I think he actually had some legal fiasco recently, like he was spending money he didn't have or something, but I don't know the details.

reply

I would have asked how that was possible. For a guy, who had made a high amount in his first movie, more than I will probably make in my entire lifetime; I know the feeling. I am also in tons of debt and know exactly how one can spend money that I did not have.

Upcoming movies doesn't mean he has money right now. Nicolas Cage continuously churns out movies, but also seems to continuously have financial troubles. It wouldn't surprise me if Depp was the one who called Disneyland and proposed the idea himself.

Now it makes me wonder. I have heard that actors/actresses, especially of his caliber, are able to command front pay as well as pay, after the movie is done shooting. This means that even being cast, he all ready has been given something. In other cases, he could waive this option and opt for getting a % of the films' revenue instead. It does seem though, that even as an A-list, he does this as a side hobby. I do not want to doubt that he is doing this because he is having financial troubles; however, it is pretty hard to believe he would be, as an A-list actor. I mean, at that point, you have to be making something and I mean even residuals.

If we guess his financial hole is a couple million, this certainly would not be enough to cover it.

reply

As I understand it, these days actors are getting less up front payment and instead get a bigger cut of the movie's revenue.

Does not seem so, he has a lot coming up this year and into 2018.
