so glad this was started

I was so mad when IMDB closed their message boards, which I assume was due to excessive trolling, whether that is the official reason or not. I always used IMDB to ask questions I could never find the answers to after a show or movie. It's good to be here. :)

It was due to actors/actresses that did not want to be talked about in a negative light. So instead of telling the middle class American that and/or middle class fan; they decided to put a cover on it and say it was an insignificant feature of the site. Of course, since IMDb is probably paid by donors of the tv/film industry, they are going to do what they can to keep their clients. Of course they would remove the middle classes's only attempt at communication towards what they like. What they do not know is that WE, the middle class, dictate who becomes a star and who does not. Without our money spending, Hollywood would be a bust!

Very true. The fans essentially write their paychecks.

WORD!!

reply

Exactly. They don't want to upset the rich and famous. And it was probably expensive to keep the boards up and running anyway.

reply

What costs would you think were associated with message boards? I thought they would take them down due to complaints from some of these actor/actresses' publicists'.

reply

Not sure exactly, but the online "space" for the boards probably cost them a good deal. There had to be some costs involved somehow.

reply

The incremental cost of the message boards when running a site of the size and scope of imdb is negligible. I think you are probably right that it was due to pressure from hollywood.
