Make a real stand about Amazon's shamelessly corporate move.
Between Moviechat, Letterboxd and others, IMDb is NOT necessary. It thrives on nothing more than its fame, which can fade, and the hard (and uncompensated) labour of its users, which it no longer deserves.
I've deleted my IMDb account, and I say good riddance.
To be honest mate, I don't think they care. Bezos owns a billion dollar company and Col seems to be a happy amazon employee. Communities come and go... it's business I guess.

Whoa, CoriSCapnSkip are you saying that your IMDb account got deleted? If so, you know what this means - spies from IMDb are actually taking the time to stalk this site in order to try to figure out which IMDb members are posting here - creepy stuff indeed.
But even if they are stooping to such dismal depths of sub-humanity (and actually, let's face it, they're capable of it because look what they did to all our millions of user contributions that we have lovingly contributed over the last 15 years; plus, they are the biggest web services company on the planet, or if not, then surely only second to google) how presumptuous of them to make the broad assumption that just because you call yourself CoriSCapnSkip here, then you must be the same CoriSCapnSkip as on IMDb!
BEFORE YOU DELETE YOUR IMDB ACCOUNT - PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!

From there you can see every contribution you have ever made to IMDb: including reviews, plots, synopses, goofs, trivia, etc.
You need to go through each and every contribution and DELETE it. It needs to be done one by one, and each one will need to be vetted personally by an IMDb staff member, who will either authorize its deletion, or reject its deletion.
[EDIT 14th March] you can't delete your contributions simply by checking the box(es) in that list and pressing the "Delete Selected" button at the bottom of that page. If you do that, you will only clear those items from your history list. And in so doing, you will lose them from the list which will make it almost impossible to delete them.
In order to actually delete your contributions, you need to methodically click on each link in the "Reference" column (it will be a long number, eg. it might look like "170221-130249-205000") then look for your contribution on the next page, and take the appropriate action to delete the contribution. The action will depend on the type of contribution, eg. it might just involve changing the dropdown from Keep to Delete, or there may be other steps involved. [end EDIT]
Why is it so important to do this BEFORE you delete your account? There are 2 reasons:
1) If you delete your account without having done that first, then there will be no way to delete your contributions afterwards - AND WHY SHOULD IMDb CONTINUE TO HAVE THE BENEFIT OF YOUR VALUABLE CONTRIBUTIONS AND KNOWLEDGE AFTER THEY'VE THUMBED THEIR CORPORATE NOSE AT YOU AND YOU'VE DECIDED TO LEAVE THEIR STINKING SINKING SHIP AS A RESULT?
2) Each time, you will be asked for the reason you are requesting your contribution be deleted. This is your opportunity to tell an actual human who works there how you feel! I would suggest writing something like "Because of your decision to delete the Message Boards, I have decided to delete all of the contributions I have made to IMDb over the years. I have been a member since [insert year here], but sadly it's become apparent that you do not value the contributions of any of your members any more, so consequently I do not wish IMDb to have the benefit of my contributions any longer. I will instead contribute to other websites that value the knowledge, enthusiasm and experience of those who love movies and television." (That's just my suggestion, but you can ofc change it to whatever you want.)
I went and looked to see if I made any valuable contributions to delete. I found none. Deleted account tho. No need to have an account there that was only created for the message boards.

"Please note that deleting a submitted batch does not cancel the submission. It only removes the submission from this history."
So does that mean deleting our submissions only removes it from the history on that page, or it deletes them from IMDb's pages?

imdb-484, in answer to your questions:
1. No, I was not CoriSCapnSkip on IMDb; I had a different username which I used my entire 17 years there. (As a matter of fact, Skip is my cat Skipper, 15 in June--so I didn't even have him when I created my IMDb account!)
2. Yes, my account there was deleted, and NOT by me!
I followed all the instructions given on the post above this one. I knew I couldn't copy my message board posts as over 1,000 still existed, so I made PDF files just listing the TITLES of threads to which I contributed. The list alone ran over 50 pages! I made PDF files AND a text document of all my reviews, for the purposes of contributing to whichever replacement site stood out as best.
ONLY AFTER TAKING THESE PRECAUTIONS did I share the list of suggestions, which you can see by copying and pasting the link into your browser, since it isn't clickable. That was one bad thing about the IMDb boards--not automatically making links clickable, so you had to remember to always highlight and select "Link." Any replacement board needs that feature BADLY--I am used to it on ALL other boards, Facebook, etc.
I shared the suggestions on as many IMDb main boards as applicable. Next thing I knew, all those posts were gone AND SO WAS MY ACCOUNT! I had been logged in all those years and when I tried to log in again was told no such account existed. A day or so later I went back thinking, maybe I made a mistake, maybe they asked for username and I accidentally typed email. I checked, and no, it was email all right, the same one I had used all along, and it still said no such account existed!
What may have tipped them off besides the posts themselves was I urged people to create troll accounts, then logged off while I made one, which I had never done before. The notice said only that I was blocked from using the boards, nothing about removing ALL my prior content from the site!
I checked on a couple of boards, while they were still up, where I HAD DEFINITELY POSTED, and NOT ONE of my over 1,000 contributions remained! Of boards they already intended to wipe a few days later! Showing nothing we can do to them can possibly be as petty and vindictive as they already are! Of course while the boards were still up, I logged in with my dummy account, but they were not allowing new users on the boards by then so I couldn't post anything. The dummy account is now logged out but is ready for use as needed for any little fun flash mob pranks such as divebombing certain titles with abusive 1-star reviews.
P. S. Out of curiosity I checked the version here of the Contributors' forum to see if it was archived before my posts were removed and it seems that NO WAY was every post in every thread archived! The board here shows two ANNOUNCEMENT threads on Boards Closure FAQ, both with 9 posts apiece. The IMDb board had THREE such threads--two closed because they had reached their 600-post limit, and a third with under 600 posts. So unless they moved the posts in those threads over to their crummy little BS Get Satisfaction place BEFORE the archiving was done, not everything was archived...just sayin'.
