Does Anyone Here Actually Go to Movie Theaters Anymore?

I'm a self-proclaimed movie snob and aficionado, but I honestly can't even remember the last time I went to a movie theater.

I consume all my movies now either on VOD (via my Fios box), Netflix, or some other method of streaming. It's crazy that going to a movie has actually become more expensive over the years, while at the same time the number of alternatives has increased. Why would I pay $20 for a ticket + $20 for snacks when I could just watch in the comfort of my own home?

Only when a Star Wars film comes out, so I can feel like I'm 7 again.

Although, my nearest cinema has had a makeover and it's really nice and comfortable now, so I may be tempted to go a bit more often.

The last movie I saw at a theater was The Sixth Sense.... That tells you how long it's been for me.
I prefer watching in the comfort of my own home. I can pause the film for bathroom breaks. Who wants to pay good money only to miss part of the movie while in the john?
I have always loved going to the theater....the scent of popcorn and sitting in the dark with others but it's just too expensive.

LOL - now that is a damn good and common reason. I hate rushing out of theater to the restroom and trying to get back as fast as possible. It is still nice sometimes to make the effort to go to the movies, but less and less so.

Hmm. I haven't been to the movies in so many years. To be honest, I can no longer tolerate how they seem to be getting louder and louder. Too much noise. I'd much rather wait until I can watch it at home, it's cheaper, I can pause to go pee and not miss a beat, and I can wear my jammies.

That being said, I also am more attached to reading hard copy books. Can't seem to enjoy kindle and such either. I like the hard copies, paper, the feel and smell of real books.

I guess the bigger, louder and brighter and faster (standing in line) just doesn't work for everyone.

I think the last movie I saw in a theater was Valkyrie (2008). Too many people getting seated late and getting up and coming back. Also, not really interested in the theater experience anymore as I've gotten older. Wouldn't mind building a home movie theater someday.

Once in a blue moon, but only if it needs big-screen viewing, like the LOTR movies. Other than that we usually wait until we can stream it or see it on cable. Too expensive, and other theatregoers can be a pain these days.

sure, great excuse to have popcorn and it's just fun to go with friends. Also, the best way to watch epics like LOTR or Star Wars

Yes, I do. I'm one of those suckers who lives in the past and enjoy it.
