Does Anyone Here Actually Go to Movie Theaters Anymore?

I'm a self-proclaimed movie snob and aficionado, but I honestly can't even remember the last time I went to a movie theater.

I consume all my movies now either on VOD (via my Fios box), Netflix, or some other method of streaming. It's crazy that going to a movie has actually become more expensive over the years, while at the same time the number of alternatives has increased. Why would I pay $20 for a ticket + $20 for snacks when I could just watch in the comfort of my own home?

It cost something like $21 for an adult ticket here, so I haven't gone to the movies for a long time. Unless it's something special, I will wait for the home release.

I probably average 20 - 30 movies in the theater a year. Most of the time it's blockbusters, cause no one will go with me to Indies or Oscar movies cause, well, they just won't. I see those mostly on DVD/bluray.

I find going to the movies to be fun, but I agree that it is way too expensive. I just get a ticket and never get food cause that costs even more. It looks like I'll be in the theater each week in March.

Here's the secret. Watch new movies on........Thursday. No one is there.

I still see movies if they are good.

I used to go every week, but when I think back, most of the movies i saw were basically pretty much forgettable b movies. going to the movies was about the experience of being in public with my friends or date. sometimes if i was impatient, or the movie was only interesting to me, i would go by myself.

but now the cost is too high to justify the movies that are available these days. especially in light of the high quality offerings online. and the experience is different now. the theater lacks the community feel that it used to have.

the magic is still there for certain blockbusters, or the occasional artistically outstanding film. but overall the experience is just different now than in the previous generations. however as long as there are theaters open, there is still hope.

They had their phone ON in the movie theatre?? Oh, the nerve! I would probably not have been able to be quiet about it, would have gotten angered and annoyed.

I do love going to the movie theaters occasionally, and the last movie that I watched was La la land. I did like it even though my expectations were sky-high.
