It really wouldn't make any difference who won this election, the USA is going downhill regardless

Americans are way too divided at a fundamental level to the point that you can say that the USA has an identify crisis at the moment and it is one that goes deeper than mere politics. The very identity of the nation is not something either party agrees on. This level of fracture is not something a country can survive with and thus the collapse will is inevitable.

The West is finished. The rot set in after WW2 and it has been all downhill from there.

True

Agreed

Hardly, Quasi. The US successfully kept Communism at bay for 75 years. And while doing that, they took Man to the moon. That wasn't the work of a rotting society.

But now they've put the vanguard for Communism into a position of power over them. They'll go downhill rather quickly now.

I AM glad Trump lost and DID vote against him, but this was a hollow victory if anyone thought this would bring the country together at all or be some sort of repudiation of Trump. For starters, we have to get through all this before Biden even gets sworn in:
1) recounts
2) lawsuits
3) Trump's refusal to concede
4) Senate run-offs
5) unforeseen events we can't even guess at yet.

If we can weather this period and Biden proves half-way competent, then we'll see.

reply

None of that has anything to do with the core fundamental problem facing America today.

reply

We can't deal with these problems because we are tribally divided. Repealing Citizen's United (what a misnomer) would be a good start, along with term limits. Not that I expect Biden to do that.

End of the empire.
