Spotify

Do many people here use this service? i love it, am addicted to it and can't live without it now. Just as they intended so they can continue to take my money. haha. I just wish you didn't need a family plan for more than one person to be on an account at a time. They let you install on 3 devices, you should be able to use three at once...

I know its so good. I've had the premium membership for over a year now I think. Its all I use for music basically. I'm thinking of going up to the family plan though so more than one person can be on at a time. I think its only a difference of five dollars or something like that. The fact they let you download of offline listening is awesome because I'm the type that would stream music even if I was using data. haha

I think the only draw back for me is I so rarely listen to anything new, and being able to choose I'm not forced to. ;) I mostly pick up listening to newer artists when I'm' with friends. There is still alot of older rock/folk to discover too! My hometown (its small) radio makes me want to scream its so bad.

And yeah, 100% control is always nice. :)

I use it every once in a while, but only the free one. Just now listening to Captain Beefheart on it. Commercials suck but I don't really know what are the benefits if I'd pay for it (other than the no commercials).

You can play the songs in any order that you want as often as you want, and you can download the songs to play offline so you don't use data. And of course there are no commercials. I think the free one you can only skip 6 songs in a half hour or hour? Not a big deal if you shuffle play alot like I do too. Not sure if I'm missing anything or not.

And I don't work for them lol

The playlists they make for you are pretty neat too, like Summer Rewind of songs I listened to last summer and my top tracks of 2016 stuff like that.

When the banner ads load in the web player it can interrupt the music, so I enabled Ad Blocker. Advertising-supported websites hate Ad Blocker and some of them send up messages complaining about it, saying I can't use their website unless I disable Ad Blocker. Not so Spotify though, it will let me use the web player with Ad Blocker enabled, without complaining or threatening me. There is always the "Install App" download link on the web player, I don't know why I would want to install the app.

reply

I actually installed the app and somewhat like it actually. You are right though, there isn't much difference between the web page and web player app. Nice they don't mind you using your ad blocker as this is how they make their money because the web version on a computer is just like the premium version on a phone. They don't play ads between songs on the web version do they? I can't remember them doing so ever, but I've had the premium service for a long time.

Just used the app a few weeks ago. Love the amount of Metal music they have (It's especially cool when they have the CDs and tracks listed, not to mention live recordings and demos). For the record, I have the free account, but I'm fine with the commercials

reply

Going paid you can also play stuff offline. Not sure if you can do that in free mode.

I love it. I'm only on the Free version but I heard the Premium version has much better sound quality though. I might join some time just to try that out. As for the Free version, I seem to be able to skip to any song I want and use repeat/shuffle. It wasn't like that before but now I'm able to, which is weird, but I'm not complaining. :)

And yes, it's amazing how seamlessly it works across all devices. Tablets, PCs, laptops, phones, video game systems - doesn't matter what you log on to, your customized music is all right where you left it.

The customized playlists are pretty cool too though. I just got mine for my top songs of 2017. Really great service. :)

and i'm replying to myself that it sucked once i got to listen to it. most songs i didn't know, but more importantly i wanted it to be a reflection of this year for me. because man its been a rough one.

I let too many people have my personal password this year and use it while I wasn't using it and it totally messed up my best of 2017. I was totally looking forward to it. Anyone else enjoy that playlist or any other spotify made up for them?

Wanna follow me? haha jk, I have literally 2 followers. haha
