Okay, we'll have to disagree here. I believe he's a sock and there's nothing wrong with that as long as he's a good-natured sock.

The reason "chick" came to mind is because I was talking to a British guy and asked him if English women are still called "birds". He said it was considered sexist now.
I'm in Southern California and I call every guy a "dude". Lol. It's beach lingo here. I noticed it's even common now to call a woman "dude".
Weird, that article says Zippy is from the 1970's. I would have thought it was older than that, like 1930's.
