He is probably perfectly affable in public...until someone sticks a camera in his face. Baldwin has had many many altercations with photographers over the years. They know he has a temper and they exploit it, they target him and rile him up. And those photos and videos make a lot of money. So they deliberately wind him up. So if people like this follow and taunt him, it's inevitable he is going to snap. Also...why didn't the shop owner kick her out? Private premises, he could have asked her to leave. Baldwin tried, but she ignored him. Nope...I am not supporting Baldwin, but this woman was in the wrong. Thanks K, but even in his earlier movies like Above The law and others, my biggest issue with him was his thin, weedy voice. He clearly had the fighting skills back then, but for me the voice never matched the physique. Fundamentally...he is too old and fat for anyone to consider putting him in a movie. He has survived the last 15 years or so making cameos in nondescript action movies, but even they have dried up. And I dont think he was smart about his career. Look at Jackie Chan, another action star who is older and not able to do the sort of stuff he used to do...but he acknowledged it. He slowed down, started doing more dramatic roles (karate kid remake, The Foreigner, ). And he comes across as very serious and dour...Chan, Arnie, Stallone, The Rock, even Van Damme have shown a lighter side in movies. Seagal is frankly a figure of ridicule these days, and there are many negative stories from people in the movie business about him. I can't see any reason why anyone would give him an acting role, and am surprised that he still has fans out there that are seemingly mystified as to why he is no longer making movies. Well, sticking a rifle barrel up a guys cornhole and blowing his guts and half his face off is not really self defence. Or it could be simply because the film was still in post production when the trailer was put together (which is very common), and the effects were not quite finished. Empire of the Sun and The Color Purple came before Hook, and after Hook he made The BFG, Tintin, West Side Story, Dial of Destiny and Ready Player One. So...no. I'm worried that they are showing a lot of people running from aliens and being attacked. I hope there is more substance to the movie than that. I get no sense of the plot, script or characters. Still, it's a teaser. Will reserve judgement until we see a full trailer. Hate to burst your bubble , but studios own the rights to the characters and can remake and recast any time they like. The public have no say in the matter. Sure you can voice your opinion, but its meaningless. If they want to remake something with a different actor they can and they will. You also need to remember that a lot of todays generation may not even know who Gibson, Stallone are. They never grew up with them like you may have. So casting a different actor who appeals to today's cinemagoers public makes sense. And as I said before, the original actors are just too old to be making these movies. Get real. Mad Max 3 had its moments but was ruined by the silly kids. But fundamentally, Gibson is just far too old to play the character now, and is also no longer bankable. I also thought the last Mad Max movie was incredible. So I am happy to see more of the same. I have no time for weeping over the notion that a certain character or actor is not in the movie. Spare me from these people who watch old movies and then complain they are dated. They need to learn about context. Well you should educate yourself. The UK was very heavily unionised back then, and tea breaks, lunch breaks etc were written into staff contracts, almost set in stone. You could argue that Cameron came in with a high-handed attitude and tried to ride roughshod over the agreed rules. He was in a different country for gods sake, he should have appreciated that and maybe tried to sit down with people and work something out. However, I have heard reports that he was not very accommodating at all to the British workers. Lucas experienced similar issued when filming the original Star Wars movie, but was more flexible and hence was not given a hard time. This was nearly 40 years ago, things have changed a lot. Oh, and in case some people still think we are a nation of tea drinkers...think again. Walk down any street in the UK and its nothing but coffee shops. Yes, they also sell tea but coffee is far more popular. I think he suffered from being typecast in that leading man, style icon mould. And probably after American Gigolo, Officer and a Gentleman, Pretty Woman, Internal Affairs etc not only do the fickle public start to tire of actors doing the same thing, but as he got older such roles are probably offered to him less and less. I did enjoy him in Primal Fear and Hoax also. And let's not forget one of his earlier roles in Looking For Mr Goodbar. In the UK I don't really see Jehovahs any more. Occasionally we have Christian preachers knock on the door. I also see them at the train station. Though God knows why they people to stop and have conversations on the way to work is beyond me. However, there is a proliferation of charity workers that knock. Usually have a badge around their neck, collecting money. And they usually have a speech...but I dont have the patience. I had a friend that had an interesting waybof getting rid of Jehovahs and similar groups. He would invite them in, make them welcome, make tea etc...and shortly after would lean over, squeeze, their knee and say "I'm so lonely!". Usually did the trick. He got old. In his younger days he got roles based on his looks. He was a style icon in the 80s. American Gigolo epitomised this. That said, I think he is an underrated actor. He is surprisingly good in American Gigolo, which has far more substance than its given credit foe. You sound far too polite. You need to learn to say no to such people. I say this because many people who agree to things like this are worried about offending people if they say no. You shouldn't. I'm saving up for the gold sneakers first... You can claim its 'letting it slide' if you wish, but I stand by the fact that people getting angry and protesting about a warning before a movie, which is shown uncut and uncensored, really need to wind their neck in. Better that than censoring or banning them. I will never understand why people get upset about an advisory warning before a movie.
