'Day of the Wolves' (1971) comes to mind. Not a well-known telefilm and it shows. It has it charms even though it's stuck in the 70s, the decade it was made. Many themes in it I felt are uncannily realistic in today's sociopolitical climate. Takes time to get invested but I was on the edge of my seat in the third and final act. Leaves a lot of the viewer to interpret on their own after watching, very impressionable. Some might feel it's very by-the-numbers. Getting past its age and okay film quality, I recommend. We were trekking on a space odyssey, time well spent, hope to see film this weekend when I have more time. Charlton Heston as Taylor from 'The Planet of the Apes'. While not an outright horror film, leaning on the side of the human condition, its exposition is rooted in the horrors of what knowledge is capable of and how it can be used to manipulate society through subtle means. Abbot and Costello Meet Frankenstein. On paper, it sounds like it would be quite a mess to produce. But it was executed wonderfully; all the characters play their roles to perfection, maintains a balanced tone between comedy and seriousness, and can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of their mood or preferences due to covering all kinds of film genre.
