Yes, "crude" was the word I was looking for. It's definitely not as family friendly as the movies. There's also a lot of drinking in Cobra Kai. There's Johnny drinking and there's also that scene when he has that "real toast" with Miguel. Johnny was giving booze to a kid underage. There's also the scene when Miguel gets a little drunk. The Karate Kid movies are definitely for kids. Cobra Kai is more adult, in my opinion. Maybe it's that times have changed. Who knows?
I would welcome a rematch between Daniel and Barnes. Daniel was afraid of him. He was even more afraid of him than Chozen, which I found strange since Chozen was way more intimidating. After that brutal fight with Chozen, how did he look so helpless against Barnes? In his match with Barnes, he got beat up most of the match and didn't snap out of it until the very end. I love when Mr. Miyagi gives him that pep talk on the mat when he's down. He says, "You stay focused. Daniel-san, your best karate still inside. Now time let out!" I love how Daniel looks at him. Then of course, there's the look on Daniel's face when he gets up. He has a look like, "that's it." Then it all comes back. I'd love if you got to see what happened to Barnes after [i]his[/i] match with Daniel. Whatever happened to him? With all the illegal shit Terry Silver was doing, what happened to him? Maybe he's in jail. They have to bring back Barnes and I'd love it if Silver came back. I'd love if Barnes confronted Daniel and told him how he got lucky. Then this time, he messes with a different Daniel.
That would be great. I didn't think Kreese would show up and he did.
I completely agree. I saw both versions back to back and the Audie Murphy version is better and as someone pointed out, Audie Murphy was the perfect choice. He was also a better Destry than Jimmy Stewart.
I agree too. And I've been saying all along, there is no Venom without Spider-Man. I would've loved for the movie to stay true to his origin. I would've loved to have the movie end with a huge fight scene between Venom and Spider-Man.

Underdog, glad to know you. I'm glad someone on here understands. Years ago when they first announced a Venom movie, I thought from the start we would see Spider-Man in it somehow, someway. If I'm not mistaken, I remember hearing about plans for a Venom movie back in 2008. I can't believe it's been that long. I remember how Eddie Brock lived in the Bronx. I was excited about that. I didn't think they would set this movie in San Francisco right away. I thought we would see the whole story from the beginning with Venom and Spider-Man, only from Brock's perspective. I remember when Brock first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #300. I love that comic. I was hoping they were going to show in the movie how Brock was investigating the Sin Eater murders and caught who he thought was the real killer. Only to have Spider-Man catch the real guy. After that, Brock's life went down the drain. He was contemplating suicide and along came the symbiote. I loved Brock's look in the comic too. He was this huge muscle bound rugged looking guy. My favorite part is when Eddie Brock reveals to Spider-Man who he is. Spider-Man recognizes him as Eddie Brock and Brock says to him, "Indeed, I used to be Eddie Brock! Before you stole my career! Erased my future! Obliterated everything I lived for!" I also loved how Brock knew Spider-Man's identity and used it to taunt him. I don't remember exactly which one it was, I read it so long ago. Brock goes to see Peter Parker and he gets the chance to meet Aunt May and he's behaving so polite.
I'm really disappointed too that Spider-Man has been cut out. Eddie Brock became Venom because of Spider-Man. His whole look is from the symbiote coming from Spider-Man. I also always found it interesting how the symbiote chose Brock when he was on the verge of suicide. They decided they both hated Spidey and it was time to hunt him down and get him. I wonder what the reason will be when they explain the name "Venom" in the movie. From what I remember, Eddie Brock called himself "Venom" because of how he was writing for some lousy tabloid and spewing "venom." I wonder if we'll ever see the two ever have the epic fight on the big screen we should've got a long time ago.
I just found out it is Hardy. Just like how it was Nicholas Cage that did Ghost Rider's voice.

I can't see any remake accomplishing what either Scarface did. I don't think it's possible to have another successful Scarface. When I heard rumors way back that DiCaprio was going to star in Scarface, I started wondering if they were going to make Scarface Italian again and make the movie a period piece that takes place in the roaring twenties. Looks like they're not doing that. I couldn't see DiCaprio as Tony Camonte anyway, but going back to the roaring twenties again might've been interesting. Sounds like this new one is going to take place today and Tony will be Mexican. I also heard it will be set it Los Angeles. This new one doesn't sound appealing at all and I don't see them making it appealing. I look back at the styles of the other movies. I think back to the way those movies were made, the music, the clothes, the cars. What style will this one possibly have?
Well, I'm glad someone is recognizing the 1932 version. I love the original and I will always consider it to be the best Scarface and the best gangster movie made around that time. I thought it was way better than Little Caesar and The Public Enemy. I found Little Caesar to be the worst out of the three. The 1983 remake with Al Pacino is good in its own right. I can see the humor in your post. This one they have planned now will be the second remake and the third version. It will take place today in Los Angeles and Scarface is going to be Mexican. I wonder if they will change his last name again. I'm guessing they will. There was Tony Camonte, Tony Montana, and now Tony (who knows?). I heard rumors a while back they wanted DiCaprio to play the new Scarface. When I heard that, I was assuming Scarface was going to be Italian again and I was even thinking they were going to set the movie during the roaring twenties and make it a period piece. If they had any guts, they would've tried that.
Yeah. It kind of makes no sense. After their match, Johnny congratulated Daniel and even said, "You're alright, LaRusso." Then later on outside he was arguing with Kreese and telling him, "I did my best," and "you're the loser, man." Then, of course, how can we forget, Kreese was going to choke him out (probably kill him) until Miyagi stepped in. On this new trailer, they make us think Johnny went down after the kick and that was the end of it. Like they're ignoring everything after that. That's not the way I remember it and that's not the way Karate Kid fans who saw the movies will either. I also found it ironic how Johnny has become the down and out loser just like Kreese was in the beginning of Karate Kid Part III, and then he's like Miyagi, stepping in when bullies are beating on a kid and then deciding to train him. Plus, how did Mr. Miyagi's "Daniel-san," turn into such a jackass? It's like they flipped it upside down. Now Daniel is the dick. Seriously, making fun of Johnny and rubbing it in how he beat him? Did he forget everything Miyagi taught him? And last time we saw LaRusso, he had Mike Barnes beating on him. Daniel isn't the protagonist anymore. Maybe this show is like an alternate universe. It feels that way. The new trailer seems pro-Johnny. The previous ones seemed pro-Daniel.
I hope they do stay as true to Eddie Brock/Venom as possible.
He will look bigger next to little wimpy Tom Holland. I agree there, Otter. I wish we could see Venom onscreen with a different Spider-Man. The only good thing I can say is that Eddie Brock will be older than Peter Parker, as he should be. Tom Hardy is an inch taller than Holland, but I'm sure they can make him look even taller than him. In the teaser (I know it was short) Tom Hardy didn't look that ripped, but hopefully he really got buff to play Brock. I hope even more so than he did for Bane. I guess we'll see. I'm thinking a little more positive now ;).
Spider-Man has to be in this. When I heard they were going to make a Venom movie, I always dreamed of it ending with the two having a showdown. I always wanted a huge climactic fight scene between Spider-Man and Venom. I don't know what they will do now, but I hope Spider-Man is put to very good use.
Well, first off, Otter, I'm not as passionate about Jack Reacher because I'm not a Jack Reacher fan. And with that, it's a little different. He was described in a book originally. With Venom, that quintessential image of him in the comics is what's ingrained in my mind. And I'm not ranting. I thought we were just having a discussion. Listen, I just think it's absolutely necessary for Venom to be massive. He's supposed to be a heck of a lot bigger than Spider-Man. He's supposed to be this massive beast that Spider-Man wants to run from. The OP suggested The Rock for the part. Years ago, I had suggested The Rock back in the days when the message boards were elsewhere. I agree that he would've been a great choice. He could've pulled it off and he has the perfect build. I guess with CGI, they can make Venom look big in this movie and he will probably be all CGI in the movie. But there will still be Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, who was huge in the comics.
I know Hugh Jackman was tall. But that was definitely something that didn't hurt. How can you make Tom Hardy look like Venom? Eddie Brock was a big muscle bound guy. Hardy did put on muscle for when he played Bane, but he still looked too small. I didn't find it believable at all when he lifted up Batman over his head. When I mentioned Jackman, I was trying to point out that you can have a talented actor and a muscular guy in one. Some people would say that it's better to get someone that can act instead of someone that is muscular. Hugh Jackman got himself into that kind of shape. I didn't find Jackman's height distracting at all. With Hardy I would. Hardy is too small. It doesn't matter how much he works out. He's a little guy. Eddie Brock looked like Schwarzenegger in the comics. Also, Venom, being so big and muscle bound, is supposed to be so much bigger than Spider-Man. In my opinion, size does matter with Venom.
I agree about getting the best actor (especially for a role like Bruce Wayne/Batman). But I also think the physical appearance is very important. With Wolverine, you got the best of both worlds. Jackman was a great actor and he got himself to look like a superhero. I think The Rock would've been a skilled enough actor for this part. I mean, it's not like they're doing Hamlet.
With Bruce Wayne/Batman, you can get away with not having a muscle bound actor. But with characters like Superman, they have to have the size and the muscle. I feel the same way about Venom. I have the image Eddie Brock in my head from the comics. My favorite Venom appearances were; The Amazing Spider-Man #300 and The Amazing Spider-Man #317. I loved Eddie Brock's look in #300. They the way I was hoping Brock would've looked on the big screen.
I'm glad somebody mentioned the accent. The movie will take place in San Francisco. That's where Eddie Brock moved to when they did Lethal Protector. He is originally from the Bronx. When I heard they would make a Venom movie, I was hoping so much that they would film in the Bronx. I wonder if Tom Hardy is trying to do a New York accent.
I don't think you necessarily need a great actor to play Venom. There aren't many big men that are considered good actors today, but I think The Rock is one of them. He's gotten better and better over the years. And if you look at the size of The Rock, that's the size Venom should be. I understand they can use tricks to make actors look bigger, but trying to make Tom Hardy look big would be some trick. He's so small. It would be like trying to make Tom Cruise look big. It just can't be done. Tom Hardy is also only an inch taller than Tom Holland.
