I actually thought his response was concise, articulate, and correct. Not every marvel movie needs to be dark and morbid. Mawwwwwwwwaaaiiiggeee.... Re-Run as Samwell Tarly or GTFO. I still consider MI:2 a comedy/parody from the Zucker brothers. When Versace ended I was pondering what would be next and I thought Koresh would be perfect. However, it might not be sensationalized enough. It needs to be celebrity, so perhaps Robert Blake? Ditto. It was beyond boring and derivative. Good call. When the Tarzaan and fencing on top of trucks start it goes south so fast. CGI killed that movie. It was an MS phone I think. They quit making them. You and I are on the same page, but I think it was silent to keep the audience guessing what the heck they were actually doing. Here's how I saw it - the whole movie was an allegory about how liberal white people perceive blacks. They hide their racism by saying they voted for Obama, hate their ancestors for their bigotry (the Jesse Owens comment), yet they stereotype and judge all the same. They just think they hide it better. Honestly, they could have kept the story tight around the family in the Bahamas and some sort of breakthrough Michael and Jake were about to figure out with seashells or something, but their spot was attracted to this shark. Michael knows about sharks from his upbringing back in Amity, which would tie it into the previous films. The chemistry of the family and between the friends was great, and the Bahamas setting was nice. They could have rewrote the role Caine took to one where whe as a more fun Quint-type that owned a boat, and they all went after the thing. Sure it would have been similar to the first Jaws but it would have been different enough to be it's own story. That's how all cops retired back then. Come to think of it, Brolin and Penn have both been in trouble for beating their wives/girlfriends. Thought the same thing. The Solo in this movie is in his early twenties and Solo in A New Hope is probably ten years older. I guess Han really wore that ship out over a decade. I heard Idris Elba was rumored for it. I think she was lonely. Look at where she works - there is nobody there. She was shocked when she almost ran into Fin and said "i didn't think anyone was here." She was sitting out front all by herself later in the movie too when he and Joe waked by. Fin didn't have any expectations from her and was certainly no threat, not to mention he was certainly different than the other guys in town. Look who she was having a baby with! I would suspect this would make Fin very attractive to a townie. I'm probably wrong here, but I got the feeling they were a religious family (mormon or something, obviously farmers so maybe the bible belt) so maybe that's why they didn't use protection or try to abort. Remember they prayed at the dinner table. Took my mom and our theater was relatively empty. We had the misfortune of bringing Tic-Tacs to munch on. I felt bad for the people in the theater as we took a handful every few minutes. Our theater was so quiet we could hear people in the theater next to us laughing at whatever they were watching. I love the theory but it didn't seem that way to me. It was he suddenly lost his wife and lost his marbles. My second favorite line after "okay, yogi..."
