You have to ask yourself..when comparing those films. Why would the budget of Wonder Woman be more than some of those films or the same? What about Wonder Woman should push its budget to those sky high levels? You have an unproven lead that is not getting superstar money because she isn't a superstar, Chris Pine who is high B or low A list actor again probably not making huge money and a relatively cheap director with an unproven track record for a film that is following the not so great response of three prior films. This film may have started production while two of those films were in theaters but there is little question their performances could effect the final budget of a film like Wonder Woman. A final budget that was still very high. And the budget decision was also justified at least in opening weekend. Wonder Woman opened the weakest of the 4 films: MOS 117 mil BvS 167 mil Suic 134 mil WW 104 mil People didn't really notice because news/net were too worried about pushing a narrative about the director/star's gender rather than the reality of the film didn't open as well as the previous films. It wasn't till week 2 and more importantly week 3 before the film was actually proving to be successful. So did they take a risk? yes. Unproven Star, unproven director, least popular character of DC's big three (heck in 2017 you could make the argument she isn't even the most popular female character in DC), questionable performance of prior films. Yet they still spent 150 mil dollars...considerably more than Logan and Deadpool both very popular characters with better known actors. Its hard to see the players representing something real when they really don't present anything except questionable generalizations. The first player to do it wore pig socks and more damaging to his own cause a shirt with Castro on it, a man that symbolizes oppression of others. He then flubbed the response to it when questioned about it. Bennett was recently caught spicing up his involvement with police, thus he is about worthless in any attempt to convince down the middle people of the seriousness of what he believes is going on. They are all privileged people kneeling for a cause that few of them actually do anything useful about. I stand for the anthem at public gathering to respect those that have died for this country, its a show of respect simple as that. You don't feel the same that is fine. But the players are not above criticism for what they do because you may agree with the realness of the issue some of them may be kneeling for. So the many non Trump supporters that don't like it either...what about them? Its not a surprise, the kneeling thing is really divisive. People against it are a pretty diverse group. The reason why you may be protesting does not necessarily make the protest you are doing acceptable. And its not just that this protest is divisive, its extremely ineffective. The reason why is now completely lost, its just that they do it that draws attention. It is literally doing nothing good for anyone. Once your protest has reached this stage of ineffectiveness and you are still doing it, its not longer about the cause, its about you. I know a lot of people weren't thrilled with W but you would have be pretty bias not to think his wife wasn't a pretty classy lady. I think it was an all right start, but you still have to get by with this cast and I am not sure its going to work. I never watched Beyond Borders so I don't know much about Simmons, but the rest of the cast...After Reid and Rossi I really struggle to care. I think they brought in a character and actress that simply didn't work. To me she was by far the worst regular cast member the series had. I am not sure how much longer they can really go. Mark Harmon is about all that holds me to the show. None of the people they have brought in have elevated the show, Bishop is barely tolerable, Quinn was tough to watch, Torres is ok but not great. McGee was so dependent on his interactions with DiNozzo that you wonder why he is even there still. Abby is probably the most popular character left after Mark Harmon and she is leaving. Both Harmon and McCallum look ready to retire, particularly McCallum who is getting far to old to be believable in his role. I really believe this will be the last season. Its a perfect cover for him if he is lol He can throw that N word all over the place and most people give it a pass. I generally judge each film as its own and go from there. What Tarantino believes I largely don't care. His favorite films of mine Reservoir Dogs, From Dusk till Dawn, and Kill Bill I wouldn't say there was major anti white theme in them, more they were just films that show his appreciation of certain film types. I think it has to do with them simply being to lazy to deal with what has come before. To me its perfectly acceptable to perhaps gloss over some things from the previous films you did not like or failed story wise. The motivations introduced for Michael Myers in Parts 5 and 6 for instance. But I do not think you should ignore the previous films. H20 could have easily acknowledged what came before without going into the less than stellar elements of the previous films. It kind of annoyed me when H20 came out because quite frankly while I liked seeing Curtis back i still think Part 4 was a better film than H20, and I am not sure there is a worse film in the series than Resurrection.
