CNN Anchor: NFL Owners Have Data That Support Trump’s Claim on NFL Protests Hurting TV Ratings

Actually the NFL does NOT support player's free speech on any other political matter!

CNN host John King said Sunday that NFL owners have data supporting President Donald Trump's claim that television ratings have gone down because of players' protests during the national anthem.

"NFL owners so far siding with their players for their right to free speech, but they're also keeping close tabs on the financial impact and the public relations impact of this confrontation," King said.

He went on to say that the NFL owners have research "clearly showing the president is right" when he claims the national anthem protests are one factor in TV ratings dropping.

"Since the president weighed in, the owners are now dealing with a surge in ticket holder requests for refunds," King said.

Because Trump heads love football, which itself is a replacement for war, and they cling to every word Trump says like robots, and these people also seem to hate others sticking up for rights. None of this is a surprise to me, honestly.

So the many non Trump supporters that don't like it either...what about them?

reply

Then just replace Trump heads with football fans, and remove the part about following Trumps words like robots. Then I bet the rest still applies.

Getting so ruffled up over a silent, motionless protest... all because of perceived "disrespect" to the cult like worship of a symbolic nationalist anthem.... It's all so creepy and trivial, and shows how many football fans are huge snowflakes that whine about nothing (while hating on others that are actually representing for something real, ironically).

Reminds me why I keep my distance from football fans.

Its hard to see the players representing something real when they really don't present anything except questionable generalizations. The first player to do it wore pig socks and more damaging to his own cause a shirt with Castro on it, a man that symbolizes oppression of others. He then flubbed the response to it when questioned about it. Bennett was recently caught spicing up his involvement with police, thus he is about worthless in any attempt to convince down the middle people of the seriousness of what he believes is going on. They are all privileged people kneeling for a cause that few of them actually do anything useful about.

I stand for the anthem at public gathering to respect those that have died for this country, its a show of respect simple as that. You don't feel the same that is fine. But the players are not above criticism for what they do because you may agree with the realness of the issue some of them may be kneeling for.

reply

Its not a surprise, the kneeling thing is really divisive. People against it are a pretty diverse group. The reason why you may be protesting does not necessarily make the protest you are doing acceptable. And its not just that this protest is divisive, its extremely ineffective. The reason why is now completely lost, its just that they do it that draws attention. It is literally doing nothing good for anyone. Once your protest has reached this stage of ineffectiveness and you are still doing it, its not longer about the cause, its about you.
