Azumi 1 and 2(2003 and 2005 Netflix DVD) I rated both a 7, I found them both very entertaining if flawed films. The reuse of actors from one film playing different parts in the second film was a bit too noticeable to be completely ignored, in one case it was highlighted. The fighting was solid, but I will say that I agree with a poster from IMDB that noted that none of the Assassins in the film looked like they were better fighters than the rest. You were more told this and the results made it seem that way but while they were fighting it didn't sell itself that way most of the time. Whispering Corridors 4: Voice (2005 Netflix DVD) 7/10 I have liked all of the films in this series so far and this was no exception. It handled itself well throughout, while I figured out the twist before it was presented I still like how it was done. Apparently girls schools in South Korea are not safe places. The Suspicious Death of a Minor (1975 Amazon Prime) 6/10 This is more a Poliziotteschi film that Giallo. For some reason it didn't really work completely for me. Probably I simply didn't buy the tactics and role the lead actor played in the film. It did have a few enjoyable chase scenes, and mystery that was suitably solved but again its not the best thing I have watched from Italy. Out of the Dark (1995 Amazon Prime) 6/10 This is a Stephen Chow supernatural comedy, it had a lot of hit and miss jokes and sight gags. I did find a lot of the film funny, particularly the inappropriate comments of a security guard when a child went missing, however the film doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Cinderella (2006 Asian Crush) 6/10 This was an interesting film, what you learn at the end of the film is simply sick and twisted. The film revolves around plastic surgery and the obsession with beauty. The main character's mother is a surgeon and her friends go to her to be fixed. But things begin to go wrong when some of these friends begin to die. The film has a supernatural element to it that isn't really well explained at any point, there is a reason why it may be supernatural, but that reason is kind of contradicted by elements at the end of the film. Brotherhood of Blades (2014 Netflix) 7/10 This is a pretty good film. Three friends within the Imperial Assassins are tasked with a mission that will entangle them in a conspiracy they may not be able to escape. The fighting in this film is very well done, the primary lead is solid and the film moves along pretty well and the story is not bad. The lead character makes a decision, that ends up being costly but at the same time no matter what he decided they were going to be in trouble. I am looking forward to the sequel to this. There is a lot of negative that surrounds it: disease, unwanted pregnancy, sexual assault, blackmail, broken homes, depression, extensive drug use, so on and all that doesn't even touch on the moral issues with it from religion and women's groups. Its really no different than drugs and alcohol some of the law is because of what happens surrounding those items not so much the items themselves. It can be regulated, but you can never completely remove the negative from it, much like alcohol and weed. Its a film I liked better on second viewing. I would still watch Star Wars over it, but I do enjoy 5th element more than I did when it first came out. However there is no worse cinema sin than Chris Tucker. I didn't care for this when they did this with H20,ignoring parts 4,5,6 frankly I think 4 was a superior film to that one. I am less inclined to be ok with this. So this is a significant strike against this new film for me. I may still watch it but all the interest has been sucked out of it for me. The show needs it, its a shame for Criminal Minds he has his own shown now, because they really need him back. I am not sure about directing, but I would love for him to have shot at coming up with the basic story of another star wars film. After seeing the TFA I would love to see what he had planned himself, he was clearly unimpressed with what came out. How slow is the burn? I was going to try and get the wife to watch this with me because she is interested in this type of show however, if the burn is too slow she wont make it through it. I think the chances Obama and Clinton didn't know are pretty slim. Obama because his daughter spent time with Harvey and he would have likely been checked out, Clinton because she knows him and has already shown a willingness to give this kind of behavior a pass. I don't know this for a fact, just a feeling I have. I think the issue is how Hollywood as a whole presents itself, as a group its liberal. Their are certainly conservatives and if any of them knew and said nothing they are at fault too, but you cant pretend they as a group don't often take liberal views and attempt to push them onto others regardless of their validity. So to have something that is so hypocritical to happen to one of their elite people who also was a top donor to democrats including H. Clinton is not going to get a pass from people when many of these Hollywood people go after others the same way. Personally I think people should be judged individually, but that's not the way some people want it. He doesn't have to, he is choosing too. Inappropriate request by the old lady? sure. But he is free to say no and go on with his life. I enjoy both films, but I think Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry edges Gene Hackman's Doyle. but more importantly, who is the better Doyle..Ed O'Neil or Gene Hackman? This is a great film. Rutger is so great here, its a real shame that isn't the actor he used to be. I believe this is true, casting couches go both ways there are people that will offer themselves to get a leg up, it is up to the other party to resist because they in the end get the short end of the stick if it ever goes wrong. While I don't care for harassment, I also don't get to upset about it because its another one of those things that is often abused and not evenly enforced. this sounds very familiar but I can't seem to get to it. Well its the NYT, Harvey is a major donor to democrats. So its hardly surprising. Does Oliver Stone normally come out condemn people? But he technically does have a point, how many of these stories are facts and how many are people taking advantage? How many are actual victims and how many were fine with his behavior up to this point? I am inclined to believe some of the stories are true, but that does not make them true. This is, after all, is why false accusations are so dangerous dealing with sexual behavior, because the accused is almost always seen as guilty even if they aren't. While he may roll the dice on inappropriate behavior in the work place, but what if none of the actual assault stories were true, does that change everything? Was Asia raped or did she go along with it and didn't like it later. She can not like him but she was not raped if this is the case. Again I don't know nor do any of us. Stone didn't just not outright defend him, he didn't at all. He said let it go to trial. There is nothing wrong with that response. Its the way things work, movie making is primarily about money above all else. Superhero films, even bad ones make money. A lot of people did not like BvS or Suicide Squad, and they didn't make a massive profit, compared to expectations, but in the end they did profit and they did have huge box offices indicating a large audience. Then a better film with a more reasonable but still high budget, Wonder Woman, brought in the money for DC. At first it seemed like the new Spider Man was showing this fatigue, but even with this third reboot in a very short time it had solid legs and finished with a strong WW BO. Hell we are getting a sequel to Ant Man, if there was a film from Marvel I thought would be DOA it was that one. Another example of the fatigue still not setting in is Logan, this was the third film in a series of films that were for the most part disappointing, even if it was good could it reasonably expect to do that well, especially with an R rating limiting its audience? Well it came out and out performed the first two and many people loved it. In the end it will take a significant bomb or two from probably Marvel because they are the leader in this to start to break the continued flood of superhero films. I liked Rogue One more than I thought I would because when I first heard what the story was about I was like I got everything I needed to know about that event in the opening crawl of Star Wars, I have never been the least bit curious about it beyond the result of it. So based on that initial thought I was pleasantly surprised by the end result overall was actually pretty decent. I had my issues with the film, I found the female lead uninspiring and not particularly likeable, and I felt Donnie Yen's potential in this was wasted, though I did like his character the most and the way the story wrapped up kind of lame as far as the characters' fates but I was still entertained. So I guess I would say low expectation with nostalgia mixed helped me appreciate it more. I am not sure I remember but wasn't there a prophecy that backed up the whole force Jesus birth? I have not seen it, so after all this time..away from the people arguing about it constantly, and the cast/director making it worse and trolls feeding into it. Is it as bad as the trailers made it seem?
