I'm confused. What exactly does "beep bop boop" mean and why is it offensive? Tried Googling it and came up with nothing. He's taking a selfie So you agree that aside from the interesting idea of the cortical stack technology the book is overrated? I originally discovered the book because after being very impressed by Hyperion by Dan Simmons (which I highly recommend) and was looking for another original epic futuristic sci-fi/space opera so a friend suggested Altered Carbon. The noir and nihilism in it is just too much. Another one that's been recommended is Pandora's Star by Peter Hamilton. Judging by its synopsis it sounds more like Hyperion in setting and tone so maybe it's worth a read. Are you South African? I have the same problem with this site. It doesn't only happen on mobile. Some topics where one post has 20 or more replies become difficult to follow as each response becomes narrower and narrower, even on a PC. Also, I hate that you can only see 10 posts per page on a topic. I don't know about that. Pacific Rim did similar numbers ($180 million budget with $411 million worldwide gross) and it got a sequel. "We have lost I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E! I repeat, we have no I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E!" The double entendre XD The genius of the scene is the fact that the serious, dramatic music doesn't match the ridiculousness of what's happening on the screen. I hate scatological humour but this is one of the most hilarious scenes I've ever seen. What an underrated movie. I did my bit in person some time ago by pretending I had no idea where an American tourist was from. It went like this: Me: "You have an interesting accent. Where are you from?" Him: "Oh, I'm from the USA." Me: "Where's that?" Him: "You don't where America is?" Me: "Never heard of it. Is it near Mexico or something?" This is silly. In the Disney animated version of Mulan, which is a story set in ancient China, there is a magical dragon character voiced by a distinctly black actor, when everyone knows there were no black people in ancient China and dragons are not part of African culture. It wasn't a problem 20 years ago so it shouldn't be a problem now wrt Tinkerbell. Interesting. This is another movie I've never heard of. Face/Off is one of the best action movies of the 90s and I know who Lorenzo Lamas is so I'll give this movie a shot if I can find it. I haven't heard of Stir of Echoes. I'll add it to my watch list since I enjoyed Sixth Sense so much. Is Ong Bak the one where someone kidnaps Tony Jaa's elephant? I think it's called The Protector where I'm from. I prefer the first Raid for its ingeniously simple premise. You can watch it in Indonesian without subtitles and still understand the plot. The second movie got a little bit too complicated but featured more impressive action sequences. That Hammer Girl and Baseball Guy were amazing!
By the way, the actor that plays 'Mad Dog' appears in the last John Wick movie.
I recognized him. And his partner was the villain who uses curved blades in that brutal kitchen fight scene in The Raid 2. It was a nice surprise seeing them both in John Wick 3.
A.I. came out in 2001.
Hmm, you're correct. My mistake. It's good to know that someone else has watched and appreciates The Raid. It's an injustice that not many people have watched it. :-) And that's being generous. The novel is a work of genius, but this is one of the most overrated movies of all time. You're probably thinking of Star Trek Beyond. Her name in real life is Sofia Boutella and in real life she has brown skin. She's part Moroccan I think. Another one: THE RAID: REDEMPTION (2011) vs DREDD (2011) Both movies are about cops who have to survive being trapped in an apartment building owned by a drug lord. I love both movies, but The Raid is easily one of the greatest action movies ever made. Sadly, Hollywood plans on remaking this Indonesian classic and will without a doubt botch it up. What makes The Raid so great is how it showcases the Indonesian martial arts called "pencat silat" and I am certain this will not feature in the Hollywood remake. Yeah, Armageddon is more entertaining. I am conflicted because I hate Michael Bay so much, but Armageddon, while inferior, is more fun than Deep Impact.
