It's such a great book, isn't it? I'm glad to come across a fellow Blue Castle reader. A lady where I work is a huge L.M. Montgomery fan, and even she hadn't heard of The Blue Castle until I told her it's a must read.
Now, it's four years after my OP, and it still hasn't been adapted. I believe the book is in the public domain now. I'd be happy with a PBS Masterpiece Theater adaptation. Just something!
Aidan Turner is probably too old now to play Barney, so I need to think about who would be perfect. I still think Anya Taylor-Joy would make a great Valancy.

Agree, but I would go as far to say it's one of the greatest TV show themes ever, of any genre.

It's taken me 30 years and a rewatch of Wings to decide that Steven Weber was the best actor on the show. He also was given all the best lines, including most of those really smart allusions that the writers were known for and that were also prominent in Frasier.
And I agree, his physical comedy skills were outstanding.
Yes, it is absolute truth. I remember posting on the old IMDB boards that I knew I had to pull the plug on this one when I was more interested watching the extra showering way in the background than I was in what was being said between main characters in the foreground.

This isn't probably one of the best trailers for any movie. It IS the best trailer for any movie ever in the history of trailers and movies.
Whoever had the idea to put the Scala Choir cover of Creep with this movie is a genius. I remember seeing it back in 2010, and I got chills.
The trailer was a harbinger of what this movie ended up being -- a masterpiece.
That is very odd to me. I would like to know if it was her decision to leave acting.

It seems that Ray McKinnon was using his true speaking voice in SOA based on interviews with him I've heard. It still has a definite southern quality although somewhat toned down.
His accent in The Blind Side is much more exaggerated than on SOA, but it's still the real deal.
Oh yes, I agree -- The Andy Griffith Show is textbook. What you said earlier in another post about southerners speaking quickly is true and well-represented in The Andy Griffith Show. Think of Barney when he's in one of his high-strung moments.
You also wrote about Hollywood's mistake in drawing out words in the southern accent. If there is a slowness at all in southern speech, it's not in the enunciation of the words. It's more a slowness with the speed of conversation--basically pauses in the back-and-forth between two people. It's an unhurried thing. The Sunday front porch conversations between Andy and Barney are proof of that. All dialect coaches should be required to listen on a 24/7/365 loop so they can better perform their jobs.
