Actually, she also fills in a gap from the first Iron Man, where Fury says to Stark, "You think you're the only superhero in the world? Mr. Stark, you've become part of a bigger universe. You just don't know it yet.". Since Cap was presumed dead for decades at that point and the Hulk certainly wasn't considered a hero at that point....Fury is referring to Carol.
I don't even think it's a DC vs Marvel debate so much as a "WB handling of DC vs. Disney handling of Marvel" debate. I held up Superman The Movie as the best a CBM movie could be for YEARS. The DC stable of heroes deserves better than what they've gotten.

Nah, I think it'll be more covert (it would almost HAVE to be..."Hey, there's TWO Iron Mans running around!") and be more of them snatching up the stones after they've had an impact....and really the only ones they would have to leave alone would be the mind stone (because they have to make the Vision) and the time stone. In fact, it's because of that last oen I suspect that the Ancient One will make an appearance as they go to the past to get it, meet with her and she convinces them to leave it where it is....making the last stand-off (totally guessing here) in the Sanctum because they'd then be able to have all the stones together without disturbing the timeline.
If you go by that, the opening scene of Ant-Man takes place in the 80's...before Captain Marvel.
