Good stuff! John Boorman's 1968 HELL IN THE PACIFIC with Lee Marvin and Toshiro Mifune! The original LP release at the time was an incomplete 43-minutes and was also issued in 1996 on a now out-of-print CD: https://www.amazon.com/Vikings-Solomon-Sheba-Mario-Nascimbene/dp/B000000PJG/ref=sr_1_2?crid=3V54BDKPNU8TZ&keywords=the+vikings+mario&qid=1657495852&s=music&sprefix=the+vikings+mario%2Cpopular%2C363&sr=1-2 A wonderfully accurate 73-minute re-recording of the COMPLETE score was released on CD in 2018, conducted by Nic Raine, and is available here: https://www.amazon.com/VIKINGS-COMPLETE-SCORE-RECORDING/dp/B07KB5VXX9/ref=sr_1_11?crid=3NCMFJ6P28IXX&keywords=the+vikings&qid=1657495389&s=music&sprefix=the+vikings%2Cpopular%2C146&sr=1-11 A nicely done video documentary of films that feature the El Condo fortress: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icLgY71uR2E Kino Lorber recently announced that they have acquired the rights for a SHAMUS blu-ray release, possibly arriving before the end of 2022... https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=30301 Similar vein: Paper Magazine's editorial director, Mickey Boardman, once told Buzzfeed that Stiller was "pretty horrible" on a photoshoot during which the actor constantly complained. A similar sentiment was revealed in the infamous Sony hacks, which uncovered an email by chairman Tom Rothman who called Stiller a "talented, albeit horrible human being." Then there are the stories from the unfortunate people who have worked for Stiller. On her blog, someone who calls herself "Miss Banshee" recalls her experience working for a day as an extra on Zoolander. She claims Stiller was "a d**k," who whined and complained incessantly, threw temper tantrums at the crew, and was placated only by his "very smiley and very blonde wife" when she brought him Starbucks. The set of Little Fockers was apparently similar, at least according to insiders who told The National Enquirer (via Celebitchy) that Stiller "alienated most of the cast and crew" with his "vain and self-absorbed behavior." He also allegedly kept two personal chefs on set, who also happened to be "stunning blondes" who "constantly massaged the star's over-inflated ego." We honestly could keep going with the stories, but you've probably already grasped our point. While not perfect, they remain much more watchable than anything I've seen on disc. I have not found these 'higher quality' youtube prints on any DVD or DVD-r to date. The Alpha is still the best one I've found on commercial pressed DVD(which isn't saying much). The release currently available everywhere listed as Nostalgia Family Video/Reel Vault/Cinema Classics Collection dated 2015 with the vintage poster artwork upc# 644827150328 are all three the same transfer on DVD-r and are poorer quality than the Alpha release. Don't waste your dough, just watch youtube. Watch a decent, correctly framed, full 114min transfer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbsEal3Jgbg Space Master X-7 finally sees a clean, 2:35 widescreen DVD transfer out of Germany region 2. DVD has english audio with removable subtitles. (update: While listed as R2, this DVD played fine in my US Philips blu-ray player!) This article was written by Paul Talbot, author of two informative Bronson books and he also does the blu-ray commentaries on many Bronson blu-rays. This same monster suit made it's debut in Teenage Caveman, another Corman film that was released earlier in 1958. Yeah, Heston mentioned how he was really invested and had a much grander vision for The War Lord and lobbied like hell to have it filmed in Europe and Universal just wouldn't bite and off to the Universal back lot they went. The tower from the film actually sat on the Universal backlot as part of the tour for many years until it was finally demolished in 2001(pics at link below): http://www.thestudiotour.com/wp/studios/universal-studios-hollywood/theme-park/past-attractions/war-lord-tower/ By the way, the new blu-ray released by Kino looks wonderful - an amazing transfer well worth a view! Watch this great, hard to find film here: https://ok.ru/video/384827263538 Photo of Bronson and Curtis reuniting in 1993: https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/95charles-bronson-and-tony-curtis-at-the-premiere-of-news-photo/51040433?adppopup=true From an interview with the prosecuting attorney in the real life case: "He got paid about a thousand dollars per kilo he was delivering and his normal load was about 250 kilos to Detroit. People should realize [the film] was fictionalized from what was actually occurring with Leo Sharp." I own the German blu ray edition and yes, the German blu-ray is region free. Plays fine on my US player. Also notable is that there is a FANTASTIC, in depth, 45-minute documentary on the making of the film(in German language w/ english subtitles) and a VERY extensive interview with Terence Hill (with Terence speaking in the english language). Also included are trailers and such. The extra features are present on the German Nobody standalone disc as well present on the German Nobody double-feature paired with the sequel 'Nobody Is The Greatest'. The German Edition with these extra features in a MUST HAVE for anyone who loves this film, although the picture quality in the US version is a bit better. Was just listening to my DVD commentary and just cannot fathom why this is still not available on blu ray in 2019. Maybe negotiations with the Wells family perhaps? However, there is now a nice HD transfer available for streaming out there so hopefully it gets announced for release soon. Hmmm... Back in May, it was revealed that Michael Keaton's Vulture and Michael Mando's Scorpion would not appear as villians in Far From Home despite being in the post-credits scene in Homecoming. "We never really found the right moment to do something like that. It's always just about it being right for the story and not just some sort of shoehorned-in cameo," director Watts said. https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a28209307/spider-man-far-from-home-vulture-scorpion-absence/ The only official release of any Friedhofer music from Vera Cruz has been the opening title music which appeared on the Jasmine Records release entitled 'The Westerns Music And Songs From Classic Westerns' available here: https://www.amazon.com/Westerns-Classic-ORIGINAL-RECORDINGS-REMASTERED/dp/B0042837EM/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=the+western+music+and+songs+from+classic+western&qid=1561095118&s=music&sr=1-1 Some more info on the score from an insider known as manderly: "Hugo told me years ago that the tapes for VERA CRUZ were gone---at least at that time---so who knows? I believe he also told me that the score was recorded in Mexico as part of the joint production of the film itself, so that would make the tracking of the original mastertapes much more difficult. Perhaps they're sitting in a musty old stone vault at Churubusco Studios alongside a cache of tequila or a cask of Amontillado." More discussion here: https://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=73773&forumID=1&archive=0 I definitely hear that, but on the other hand, without remakes we wouldn't have The Omega Man, Bogart's Maltese Falcon, Garland's Wizard Of Oz, Heston's Ben Hur, or Burton's Planet Of The Apes. Oh, wait, scratch that last one...
