Widescreen DVD transfer
Came across a 2:35 widescreen transfer of this film but boy is the picture dark and murky. Has anyone ever seen a clear widescreen transfer on this title?
shareNo, not yet. I got what sounds like the same DVD you have. The picture is dark and a bit unfocused, with noticeable speckling in places, though no cuts or jumps or loss of sound. The audio is okay, but it looks as though the disc was recorded off a TV.
They've occasionally run Space Master X-7 on Fox Movie Channel lately (most recently today, March 2, 2010), and their print is good, but unfortunately it's in pan and scan, with the opening and closing title sequences compressed rather than letterboxed. I had recorded that version earlier and will keep it with the minimally acceptable DVD, which is at least in widescreen. But this not-bad little film definitely needs a good quality DVD.
