If you're into that kind of thing, you should do it with your own kid, like Trump did. Follow his example! Rilla of Ingleside was a wonderful book in my opinion. It's explained in the book that she had a head cold, and so couldn't smell anything. I think even Sayuri realized that if things were different, she could have ended up like Hatsumomo and that they did have a lot in common. I think you are supposed to pity her at least a little. What I never got was this. I got the impression that Hatsumomo was extra cruel to Sayuri because she was jealous or threatened in a sense. Like even at that age she knew that Chiyo could one day be a threat to her place in the order of things. After all, Hatsumomo was mean to Pumpkin, but in a casual way. Not so much in an "I will destroy you" kind of way. In the book it's very clear, she might be mean and crude at times, but she was absolutely no fool when it came to schemes. All of that being said, her best course of action would have been to play nice with Chiyo. Why not tell her right away about her sister visiting, give her some money to run away, and just make it look like she stole the money and ran? She would have never been heard from again, just like her sister, and Hatsumomo would have had her way. Yep. In the book, Marilla puts her wine in the cordial bottle. Either the original bottle had broken, or that was just the bottle she used when she made it (I don't remember). Marilla was ALWAYS doing this in the books. Anne also made a cake for the minister's wife and put linament in it because Marilla had broken the bottle and put what was left in a vanilla bottle, that Anne unknowingly used in the cake. Then, in Anne of Avonlea, a similar mistake was made with a red fabric die and skin cream that Anne used. They really should have had a system of marking any jar or bottle that was being used for another purpose. It would have saved a lot of grief. Circumstances, and at the end of the day a broken society. We do choose how we respond to circumstances, that's part of the rational thinking mind. That's what mental illness takes from you though. Sort of hard for him to make those wise choices when he couldn't distinguish between reality and fantasy. I don't think we're meant to sympathize with Joker or cast judgment on him. His character in this movie isn't about that. He's just a result. We're meant to ask; a result of what? Yes! I loved it! View all replies >
