Bandersnatch

I just watched it. All in all, pretty entertaining and about what you would expect from Black Mirror. I just didn't really get into the choose your own adventure aspect. I felt like I got taken out of the story when I had to choose a path.

I thought it was really cool, i liked the part where you had the option to kick his dad in the balls or karate chop him, there was some really funny options near the end of it.

Really hope they do more stuff like this in the future.

reply

Ha ha, I did totally pick that option :-)

reply

Just sucks that the outcome was the same no matter which option you chose.

reply

Very true. I did wonder the point of that (I went back and chose the other options when it let me, to see the other forks in the story). Is it trying to say that our fate is already set, and free will is really an illusion? Kind of depressing, the exact kind of message the show would go for now that I think about it.

reply

No its more like true fork branching would grow the story outcomes exponentially and a production can't afford to do all that so the story branch points must merge just like video game RPG stories must find a way to merge the storylines to keep costs from growing exponentially. The sroy does have 5 actual distinct endings which is still responable compared to 16, 32 or 64 endings which could never be filmed on a reasonable budget.

reply

I agree the option thing was annoying to me it takes u out the movie

reply

Exactly, it made it kind of disjointed feeling.

reply

Yeah as a movie the story is a little jumbled and messy due to the options and constantly going back and redoing things, but i don't think its meant to be enjoyed as an enthralling movie, i think its just meant to be fun and innovative.

reply

True, and it was kind of fun as a one time thing (I will say I loved how they worked it into the story). I just keep hearing about NetFlix wanting to do more choose your own adventures in the future and don't see me very much getting into the trend. Others may have lots of fun with it though which is cool I guess.

reply

It was a mess. Interesting, but NOT entertaining. I stopped choosing after tenth option. I just did not care.

reply

I thought it got more interesting as it went on. When I didn't care was when he was picking music and cereal and things like that.

reply

Just do not choose anything if you want to see all the possibilities.

reply

Yeah, I just let the entire thing autoplay.

reply

I did not even finish the movie because I kept picking the wrong ones and it kept going back I got tired of choosing

reply

That's a pretty good idea, might try it if I go back and watch it again.

reply

The best part was, when you "told" him, that Netflix is controlling him for entertaining purposes ;) And you could explain Netflix to him.

reply

I liked that too. It sort of made you the bad guy in the story. Very meta!

reply

Especially when you told him to chop up his Dad's corpse ;)

reply

I got really sick of the music.

reply

why

reply

Hearing music that I didn't like in the first place, over and over and over and over.......
