One thing that did really bug me, and it happens a LOT with tv/films where there are motorcycles involved, is when the sound design guys CLEARLY aren't riders. There are two motorcycle cops shown riding numerous times in the season, and multiple times, the bikes are giving Harley sounds. Only once did I notice they sounded like the actual bikes that they are. The other thing sound people almost always get wrong is shifting gears in the audio, but not timed with when the rider pulls the clutch in (left hand). There's nothing more aggravating for actual riders than finally seeing a good motorbike chase/action scene and the bike suddenly has 10 gears, but the rider never pulls the clutch in to shift! lol The assassination/attempts were because they were sniffing into the guy's business - when Jack makes his case initially. Everyone in the convoy was supposed to be killed, but Jack survived and became an even greater problem. The guy behind it knew Jack had to be dealt with as soon as possible, so the middle man was contacted to activate the assassin. SO, yes, there was a need for it. But by the end I was more 'meh' than anything else. And you're right. I wasn't paying attention. When the whole political setup is outlined in Jack's lecture, he says the opposition is 'running on a social justice platform'. Anytime someone says that, I tend to tune out because I'm not sure 'social justice' truly exists. LOL Yes. It is. Ironman remains the best superhero film. Mandalorian will likely stand as one of the best if not the best Star Wars story yet, primarily because it looks to be made for adults, while all the other Star Wars content seems aimed more toward kids/tween/teens. The Mandalorian looks to be the franchise that those of us who were kids when ANH/ESB/ROTJ opened in theatres. We've outgrown Star Wars' need to focus on building a kid fanbase, and excuse hokey characters and performances. This might be a series to keep adults as fans. Pertinent? Likely not at all. But like vegans and crossfitters, I'm sure they'll tell us anyway. XD Clearly it worked for Han and kept him alive. And clearly he wasn't the first person they'd done it too because his symptoms are explained to him when he is brought back ("I can't see." "Your eyesight will return...") The way I see it, it's the easiest way to keep your quarry contained without taking up much space. Frankly, I'm surprised all ships carrying live cargo don't use that tech. Especially if you're hauling rathtars. ;) Arg. It's frustrating because I feel like the show has so much potential, but it's just not hitting the mark. Last year it felt like it was neutered, but I wrote that off because of it being a first season. This year, it still feels the same. It's just out, so I won't get spoilery, but there are a few times when characters just do a stupid thing in order to move the plot along. That's frustrating when, especially when it's Jack doing it because he's supposed to be so smart. Why is he doing amateur hour stuff?? I like John in the role. The supporting cast was decent. The main storyline was middling at best. I didn't like the last 10mins of the season because it felt so telegraphed. There were two potential suspects for me, and I feel like they chose the wrong one. The other one would have been much more dramatic, but they didn't have the stones to write it. Such a shame. Anyway... I really hope they give it another season and again, I really hope they step up their game. Sidenote, how do you know the Leftists were the opposition? Was it stated in the show? I might have missed that. Lots of subtitles... I tried to keep up, but it's entirely possible that I might have missed it. Yup. A bit of girl-fight was necessary. That said, it's interesting that they flipped characters at the end. Cersei goes from stoic to snivelling/scared and Dany goes from protecting the innocent to barbecuing them. Interesting, but not truly satisfying. I disagree. She promised Bronn what he wanted to go execute both brothers. (Or was that order officially from her hand... I don't recall.) Honestly, the ending that I wanted for Jaime and Cersei (and Euron) played out more like this: - Jaime getting captured trying to escape to King's Landing, Tyrion coming to rescue him - Jaime makes it to Cersei's throneroom... Euron is also in the room - Jaime's true intentions are revealed and he tries to kill Cersei because *despite his love for her*, he can't bear to see her subject the world to any more of her horrors - When he tries to kill her, Euron steps in to defend her, and ends up besting Jaime who is brought to his knees, unarmed. - Euron looks to Cersei who doesn't flinch, shows no emotion (totally dead inside) and in doing so, Euron takes it as permission to kill Jaime, which he does and Cersei barely flinches when Jaime's head hits the floor - Cersei dies by Dany's hand... not her dragon (which eats Euron as payback for the scorpions killing its siblings earlier). Have Cersei start to beg, and say she's pregnant, and then have her kill Cersei anyway slowly, painfully, with a blade (similar to the way Rob Stark's wife got killed) - Cersei bleeds out on cold dirty stone - Dany has then been able to face her longtime enemy, and excise some of her anger... and she doesn't go all Ragey-Mad Queen because of that, but she could due to her inability to trust anyone anymore. She could go all Paranoid-Mad Queen, leading to Jon having to kill her, and because of his guilt in doing that - and his lack of desire to rule, he abdicates the throne to the only brilliant, efficient, benign, oddly honourable characters he knows - Tyrion, who chooses to destroy the Iron Throne and make a new throne, crediting Dany with 'breaking the wheel' as she promised. Agreed. He was. And the blind lady was good too, (though somewhat incidental to the overall plot). Not at all. It's just juvenile, base level writing, using that stuff as a crutch to cover the fact that they're hacks. But hey, go ahead and enjoy it. I left for better shows. Agreed. That would have been a way more interesting episode. Seth is obsessed with potty humour and sex organs. And this show is barely watchable because of it. And he’s totally underutilized/wasted here. (= poor direction) Nicole Kidman is a great actor who is totally wasted here. (= poor direction) Amber Herd is a Barbie doll prop (=poor casting) Dolph Lundgren is a prop (= poor casting) Actually, Momoa can act really well, but if you want to see him do so, watch 'Braven' because in Waterkanda he's betrayed by a crappy script, weak direction all around, and a bland slate of castmates. Overall, there is nothing impressive about the movie outside of the technical aspect of wet, CGI hair. I wasn't even a fan of the production design because most of the creatures looked like rejected art from the Star Wars' prequels' underwater bits, and the glowy stuff from The Abyss. It's a shame this has made so much money, and had anyone BUT Momoa been in the lead, it would have been a 100% disaster IMO. There's zero need to see this film. Both episodes thus far have been Bortis-centric, and he's literally the least interesting character on the ship. I honestly don't give a crap about his need to pee annually, or his sex/family life. The more the show focuses on these things, the more it drags the show into unwatchable 'agenda-driven' territory for me. I just don't care. If the episodes become more mission-centric, it will help, but with the state of the writing so far this season, I'm concerned. LOL... you guys can't be serious. This lost me WAY before your spoiler moment. This film is a travesty. Painful on pretty much every level. The story was rudimentary at best, and *still* manages to make little sense. They do a 45-60minute build up a big sacrifice and that sacrifice amounts to nothing - had the sacrifice not been made, the outcome of the greater threat would have been no different. The lead actress was just into the realm of watchable, but pretty much everyone else is tragically hung out to dry by poor direction. Lots of elements stolen from far better films (attempts at Interstellar styled visuals, guy in a wheelchair from Avatar getting to walk again). Much of it is shot as a documentary styled interviews, but none of those actors being interviewed delivers performances remotely close to how an interviewee actually comes across... i.e. they are all blatantly *performing dialogue*. For the most part, the VFX were weak with the exception of the motion graphics - it looks like those elements got outsourced to someone who knows what they're doing. The script itself is amateur... it's moments of junior-grade pseudo-science jargon that has contradictory connective tissues, sometimes within the same sentence the supposed scientist speaking them is saying. Simply put, the writer doesn't have enough grounding in science (or logic) to write a project like this, which is the ultimate betrayal of the film. The story, visuals, and acting aren't good enough to make up for that deficiency. The tacked on environmental message du jour was the perfect nail in this coffin of a film. I could nitpick this film, but honestly, nobody has the time to write that list. Kudos to them for actually completing a 'film', as the process of filmmaking is a difficult one. But there's nothing redeeming here. Absolute hard pass/avoid if possible, unless you're looking for a drinking game and doing a shot for every stupid thing you see or hear. #drunkin15mins I agree... they aren't writing her dynamic with her partner really well. Sela may not be able to do anything BUT smile at this point. Yeah, they could do with making the action a bit more authentic. For sure. Nothing has touched the Winchester/Stapleton run on Strike Back for the feel of legit action (still dramatized, obviously, but you can tell those guys trained tactics as much or more than the studied their scripted lines). Ha. Well, if you wanna make that list, it'd be pretty long. Lots wrong with season 5. Like they just all gave up but couldn't walk away from the paycheque. I mean, Eric Dane HAD to be rolling his eyes at those scripts. Adam Baldwin spent the whole season looking confused, and the most dialogue he had was when he was speaking to the blonde chick who betrayed command HQ. He just had nothing to do - all dang season. The promoted Girl Green to Captain and then gave her the James because #metoo, meanwhile, Baldwin the superior officer who used to command the James was just kinda... there.
