It's because it's takes liberties with historical accuracy in places. The accents also suck a sense of realism out of the film. It's at least a 5.5/10 for me.

Although remakes have a bad reputation, there are good ones out there. Just look at the Maniac remake! It's FAR superior to the original.
Nothing can top Argento's original, but I'm looking forward to this. Hopefully the director has a good, unique interpretation of it.

I totally get some people not getting Animal House.
That's exactly what I did. I watch mostly older films anyway. I still found it very average.
It's definitely not just you. I went into this expecting an uproarious comedy, but as I was watching it, I thought to myself "where's all the humour?".
There were a few funny parts, but I was expecting something hilarious along the lines of 'Animal House', but I just thought it was pretty average. Way over-rated in my opinion.

Just enjoy the movie for what it is. A dumb action film, instead of looking for so-called "misogyny" or other things to be offended by.

I remember loving this... as a teenager. Watching it now, it's soooo bad. Can't help but snigger every few minutes and the woman is annoying as fuck.

Yeah, it was okay. Nowhere near as fun as I was expecting it to be. I like a slow burner, but it seemed like it took forever to get moving.
