In the immortal words of Lex Luger: "I DON'T KNOW!"
YO - Who else at MovieChat is hyped up for this? We've got another emerging filmmaker here, people!
Phantoms was the BOMB, yo!
I really appreciate how the climactic movie premiere takes place at a drive in as opposed to something like Mann's Chinese Theater.
....You're quoting the movie, right?
Just checking!
That's when you KNOW it just got real!
Hahaha, great idea but wishful thinking. His salary at the time would have been twice this movie's total budget.
He's certainly doing his best.
I know John Waters is as subversive as an auteur can get, but what the heck is up with Dorff playing this character? Seems like a part for an actor who can go for broke, like Robert Downey Jr.
Claims to be rich but (by his own admission) lives in a van and can't afford heating for a flophouse in Ohio on top of not being able to self-finance a super low budget indie (lack of commitment and attention span notwithstanding). What a piece of work.
Rescue Me with Ami Dolenz and Michael Dudikoff!
Wow, sounds like a metaphor for a short film starring a John Tavolta lookalike:

Another one?!
I'll try to do both!
No, absolutely not.
Great movies are still being made. However, the sheer volume of media at our fingertips makes it more challenging than ever to seek out films that spark that sense of cinematic wonder. (It could be argued, though, that events in the wake of 2020 have made it difficult for movies alone to raise our spirits, but that's a different topic altogether).
Here is a brief list in no particular order of great movies from 2020 onward:
Palm Springs
You Cannot Kill David Arquette
I Used to Go Here
The Vast of Night
Bad Trip
Kajillionaire

Absolute trash take from OP, but I appreciate the confident wrongness.
It's a more appealing brand name than Eau de Toilet.
You're welcome!

Pretty cool! I just started listening to the episode. Quite the captivating casual interview.
