Where does food and electricity come from?

So much boring talk.
The priest's explanation to the sheriff about his past was so painful to sit through.

Animals will randomly appear in the surrounding forest. The people grew crops. The electricity just worked like magic they don't know why, I forget about the water though it's probably the same.

The electricity is a big part of the plot at one point. They don’t know where it comes from or how it works. Appliances and lights work without being plugged in, and the electrical wires lead nowhere. So the electricity is unexplained phenomena in this area

They show scenes with the Asian sheriff and the black sheriff’s son fix the animal traps in the forest. So that’s how they get meat. They show scenes where the big lady at colony house grows crops and plants
