Really disappointing (spoilers)

Everything involving Sam’s journey to becoming Captain America and the weight of an African American taking on the legacy of an iconic hero was solid. The story of Bucky continuing to right his past wrongs and heal from the trauma he went through as brainwashed assassin was less well done, but entertaining enough (for context, I enjoyed ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’).

But everything involving the geopolitics of the MCU post-‘Avengers: Endgame’ was simplistic and babyish. Marvel Studios never does well when it tries to dip into the politics of its universe and this series was no exception - Karli and the Flag Smashers, the Global Repatriation Council, and the post-”Blip” state of the world were confused, lazily thought out, and poorly written. Both Zemo and Sharon Carter became completely different people for the sake of plot, an obvious twist and future spin-offs.

We need to stop calling the Flag Smashers terrorists, but Walker? oh, he must be stopped. This show's morality/logic is just plain wrong.

I like Carl Lumby. He is pretty much the only thing I liked about the show. Oh, and Wyatt Russell was great.

I thought the show was really well cast aside from Karli, which is a bit of a big deal since she’s (arguably) the villain.

Raise your hand if you want to know more detail about the politics and geopolitics of the MCU.

Okay, I see one hand... nobody else?

No, nobody else. Because the rest of us watch Marvel stuff for fun and entertainment, and politics aren't fun. Okay, a certain amount is necessary for world-building, but let's not let it become a buzzkill.

I get what going for and you are right.

But also get what the OP is saying too.

While we don’t need it to be super deep, it was really poorly handled in the show when they did do the geopolitical stuff and honestly I feel I need to rewatch it to actually understand what it was all about cause was so choppy and just badly written.

As you said you need some of it for world building. The some we did get in this though seemed to bring the world building down and felt just bad.
