Why was Martin Freeman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in this movie?
Was it for diversity reasons? Why? I personally dont have problems with seeing Asian movies with 100% Asian cast. I dont demand to see some random black or white people to be inserted "for diversity reasons". I dont mind to see movie made in African country with 100% Africans in it. I dont care to see how they will randomly put some Chinese or Korean "best friend" in it to be diverse. It would look awkward and fake.
I dont mind to see Wakanda movie with full on black cast. Its a movie about black kingdom after all. Let them have their own problems and struggles to overcome between themselves. Its a movie with black characters for black people. If other races would like to watch - okey. No one forces anyone to watch Japanese, Turkish, Rwanda, Serbian movies. You want to watch - you do it.
They did it mostly fine with first movie. There was black villain and they had their own adventures. But for some weird reason they inserted Martin Freemans white character. He had no purpose and reason to be there. At all. Its wasnt his story and it looked awkward.
Now in sequel they brought him back and added Julia Louis-Dreyfus to him. Again - there was zero reasons for them to be there. They didnt contribute anything at all for main story. Cut all their scenes and nothing will change. They took minutes from overall very long running time. Movie was too long and 10-15 minutes could be cut off.
Honestly I dont even understand why thee insert Julia Louis-Dreyfus characters into MCU at all. Its the third time they put her in in small doses after Winder Soldier and Black Widow. Nobody cares to see another Powerful Boss who puppets other superheroes. There is Sam Jackson and Viola Davies for that. Why add another? Not to mention Julia Louis-Dreyfus looks and acts like her Veep character, dorky idiot Selena Meyer. Not some powerful boss lady. At least Viola Davis has that Boss Attitude in her. Julia Louis-Dreyfus doesnt.
